Just had a bit of sport with one of the new astras, not sure what model but i had to give the scoob (Tek2 full decat) some serious right foot to get away from it, probably pulled about 200 metres on it over about a mile anyone else with similar experiences because i was expecting to totally blitz it!

It might have been a GSi 190 (ish) BHP I think and loads of mid-range go. My mate has a Euro model over here in France and it seems pretty quick. Having said that get one at the traffic lights in the wet and its all over- the electronic nanny doesnt let em put the power down.

Yeah whatever it was it was fairly quick, i came up behind him in fifth and as i was passing he dropped it a cog and was off, i did the same and edged past slowly, although i did nail him on the brakes thank god for modded disks, pads and 4 pots. Time to calm down methinks..

Pulling 200m in more than blitzing! That is a humiliating loss - you wasted it??

Saxo,

I did beat it fairly easy but you know when you think you are gonna totally destroy something without caning your own car, then are proved wrong, i'm not condoning what i did but i had to hit silly speeds to loose him when i thought i would cruise past without effort

You have to have a monster power advantage to beat another car without braking sweat. A standard scooby couldn't beat a family 1.8 on full chat without a big dollop of applied effort. Just a fact of life I'm affraid.
