This weekend I have been mostly driving a 911S

Father Jack,
You weren't up near the bypass coming off/on Straiton junction on saturday at about 2.30pm-3pm were you?
Bird & family all went to Ikea and came back raving about this old Porker they had seen up there.....
Coincidence?
Was it you? Have you bought it? If not, can I buy it???

Nice one.....
Lovely colour too - is that Cassis ?
Imlach - only problem with those is the gearbox usually - what was the shift like ? ...and of course the top end rebuild - unless it has had one

Imlach old chap, how are you?
Yep that was me, just back from doing a few laps of the coast road.
It's not mine, I sold the Accord R and joined the classic car club, and I just use the Mrs's Cooper for nipping about now.
They won't sell that car, everyone wants to buy it. It's got quite a history, was owned by an Italian Contessa and then Lord Strathcarron. It cost £5550 new in 1972
Gastro - the shift was ok, quite slow and deliberate though.
I didn't expect to like a 911, especially one that old, but it was great to drive once you get the hang of it, slow in, then drift out on the understeer. Makes you feel like Steve McQueen - I definately fancy a later 911 now.
Only bad things were it takes a full half-hour to warm up and makes a right racket until it's warm, that and the brakes need a huge amount of force.

Father Jack,
Still got the car tonight? Can you bring it round to my house if you go out in it again?!?!?!?!
Would love to see it.....
Is the classic club you are in the one that has the Evo6 (do they now have a Evo7 too?) - how much is it per year? I know someone else in Blackhall that is in it (neighbour of a friend), and he's always getting some nice motors for the weekend...

I love to know what the Porsche is worth. I'm guessing at 16-18k? Mint outside, interior could do with a re-trim, but everything works and only 80,000km on the clock.
It went back yesterday Imlach, just had it Friday and Saturday.
They have an Evo 7 now, and just got a 400bhp Cobra replica think I'll wait for a dry day for that one.
Fancy the Mustang next.........

Price - largely depends on the originality, whether or not its a true engine/chassis numbers match, provenance, service history etc...
Immaculate with numbers match and provenance - easily £20-30K... But this one is left hooker - so cheaper...

Imlach - you should get about 6 weeks they reckon.
The bummer for me is I have to use triple points at the weekend all the time.
They are talking about a £500 joining fee after 100 members (I'm no.88) and they expect to cross that after the next open day in April.
Please mention me if you are thinking of joining. If I get 10 referals, next year is free

Fen - I know I go on about them - I think its that older 915's are getting pretty tired and hence arent as sharp as they could be. A recon or good unit is probably OK
BTW --> Congratulations to Mr Imlach on your engagement top man

I was in the London based Classic Car Club a couple of years ago - check out a few of the cars I drove that year including over 1,000 miles in the Ferrari alone
The Caterham was such fun I'd bought my own within 12 months...

Some similar cars there Mark - we just got a 928 as a 2 point car which should be good. Some ****** melted the engine on the Ferrari (just a 308) which is 10k for a rebuild
What was the De Tomaso like?

Its not a De Tomaso - its actually a Lamborghini Jalpa. Apparently only 17 in the country and I know why - what an old dog it was Was delighted to get it back to be honest.
All the others were great - the only other car I had was an old 911 like the one you drove but an RS model with cage, racing seats and full harnesses - was great fun as you say
The Ferrari had loads of little electrical gremlins but what a noise
Very jealous - wish I still a member...

I was a member for Two years until last summer....just joined again though, and also joining the Brum branch
That 928 S2...what an awful gearbox! I usually prefer doglegs, especially in a Ferrari or E30 M3, but the porsche one was a dog to use! The 928 S4 though was lurverly
