Well its acutally around 550miles per week but 2k sort of rounds it up
The plus side is that its 10k service intervals, cheap services, cheap to run and insure, dirt cheap to buy (but lots of dogs out there) and basically a pretty sound car for less than an equivelant rusting escort (as all the escorts i saw on k/l reg plates were rusting nicely, the mondeo's seem to have much better paint work/body work).
(but i missed out on the 1200 quid one, 1.8 glx, 53k VMC, HPi'd, FFSH! Immaculate as this guys missus sold the car before he got home )

lmao !
sorry, no offence meant Tony, but I don't think I've ever seen a thread on this BB about a Ford where you haven't popped up to stick the boot in so I find this very funny

Scary aint it!
But this car suited my needs for what i wanted....
I looked at "rusty" escorts (they were rusty for the same price as well!) but the mondeo actually fell into a bracket where i could 1. afford the insurance/running costs, 2. didnt need to buy another renault 19

Tony welcome to the Ford and Subaru ownership club. I had a fiesta and subaru and now a focus and subaru. I am a shamed to admit this buit I really enjoy driving the Focus, as :
quieter than the scoob
twice the economy
has a warranty
insurance
better build quality
great sound system and loads of toys
blends into the background
Good job it doesnt have the perfromance, I dont want to drive an RS just in case . I doubt it would live with the RA but an AWD Focus with 300bhp would.

Tony is using the ford for exactly what it was made for 'abusing'..
And if it stays together then there aint a problem..!!
Mondeos do seem to hold up to high mileage compared to some of the older push rod fords..!! my mates dad had a 2.0 with full leather e.t.c and did 120,000 miles worth of motor way driving and the engine still looked brand new and didnt make any funny noises..

Cossie,
i wouldnt really call it a "performance car" as i tried (note the word tried BTW ) to go from 30-50mph in 3rd and it took absolutely ages (and i mean ages!).
It does me for what i want though, big boot, better mpg and longer service intervals (and something that will be ok for driving and not being noticed )

Exactly why I have one I have seen about 50 Foci exactly the same spec and colour as mine in the last month, good popular cars and allows me to blend into the background. Didnt want perfromance just a trundler with a low insuranace group something 15 groups less than the scoob . It great around town and okay at motorway speed perfect for me and what I want to use it for.

I hate my mondeo. I think it's the worst car I've ever had.
It has no grip, makes all sorts of noises when going round corners. Loads of things have gone wrong in the past year (but in fairness all were wear and tear). And if one more ******* bulb goes...
In total it's cost me £810 in a year, which I think for 'a cheap runaround' is pretty awful.
On the plus side it has averaged 38 mpg and insurance was only £300.
I've run all sorts of performance cars and none have cost this much to keep on the road.
And to top it off my new job takes me down lots of narrow lanes with loose stones, dew, fog and lots of corners. Wonder what car i should replace it with.

Fords seems to come in for alot of stick - why? was not the Cosworth a superbly cool car...? it was and don't say it wasn't, probably paved the way for the Impreza's and Evo's currently around.
The new Mondeo is an extremely well made car and is not the X-Type wheel base the same animal.?... is not the MX5 a Fiesta in disguise....? and what about the new generation of beasties they're about to launch? and Aston Martin - now who owns them I wonder!?
Nothing wrong with a Ford, mate, my brother in law works for them in Canada,
In these days of car interbreding you may well find in a few years your Scoob is a Skoda in disguise.... now that would be freaky... however...
Good luck with your new car Tony.
