Does anyone have any information on the GTR? (Only infromation about the GTR, as I'm not keen on RWD!! )
What are they like to live with?
The look big, but what sort of size is it compared to other cars on the road? (Is it much bigger than an Impreza??)
Who can service, fix and tune it in the Surrey/SW London area?
Is the insurance, running cost, mpg reasonable?
Reliability? Common faults, problems, issues, etc?
What are they like around town and over speed bumps?
What years were they manufactured?
What sort of money do the later R32's go for?
Somehow I don't think I could stretch to a R33!!

I know very little about Skylines but if I were to get one it would have to be an R33 without a shadow of a doubt!!
I think the R32 is a little old and looks it now, and if I were to have I would always feel like I should have saved a few extra quid and got the R33
Iam thinking about an R33 next, but not sure if I can live with it yet.

R32 GTR Omega /MCR Tuned
HKS Dragger
HKS Downpipes
Cat replacement pipe
HKS induction
Steel Gaskets
Twin plate clutch july 02
Gearbox replaced july 02
Flame thrower
BOV
ECU
Blitz boost control
SBC turbo timer
New Turbos (July `02)
Drilled discs
Ohlins Suspension (fully adjustable)
Strut brace
Uprated oil pumpStandard intercooler (boo hoo!!)
New alloys (17 x 8 awaiting delivery)
Privacy glass, new Kenwood CD and Cat 1 alarm fitted August 02
After a recent inspection of the car the original 500bhp figures seem unlikely due to the size of injectors fitted but with the mods listed a more conservative 400 is likely. REcently serviced and awaiting the outcome to find out if it is indeed running track running gear with track LSD and track steering or if it needs a front dif replacing. Either way, the car is running at the moment but in garage getting a major service and awaiting outcome as stated above.
This car was purchased in July for £13,750 and i have now spent £1500 putting it right + the new alloys (crack in old one).
Pictures in gallery under jasons r32.
Surely a de4aler can make me an offer????

Hi Andy
My boss has 400bhp R32 (not that he ever drives it ) He said it is really thirsty and the clutch is a pig in town (uprated Nismo item). Hasn't had any major problems with it. His is always serviced by Middlehurst
He reckons the R32 is more of a drivers car than the R33 out of the box as it is lighter and more direct.
Buy one NOW!!!

Cool thing is that I walk to work, so it will only be used evenings and weekends!
No need to give my left leg a workout in the rush hour traffic!
Only thing that bothers me is the price!! £10-13k for a car that's 11-12 years old!! For the same or less money I could be in a year old 200SX/Impreza/Evo 5, ok they're no Skyline, but I hope you can see my way of thinking!
Especially as the guy above selling his, has already changed the turbos, clutch, gearbox, it's a bit of a worry really!!

Maybe I need to speak to my insurance people first and see how much changing the policy from a group 14 Golf GTI to a group 20 Skyline will be first!!
Although they insured my Impreza (350-ish BHP, UK, heavily modified) for £1200 (which I though was quite good!! )

Andy have a look at a R32 GTS4Turbo, I sold one in the last month for a lot less than £10K. They have the same Super Hicas and Super Altessa systems (4WD + 4WS) as fitted to the GT-R. Just adding that the GTS4 is rated by some companies as only a Group 18 and I was quoted £600ish fully comp on it.

Well, it seems that for the R32, good ones & bad ones cost about the same. In Japan, these cars hold their value better than both the R33 & R34, & there are a number of 2nd hand dealers who'll only deal in R32s. That says a lot abt the car, as the demand is still there.
Btw, the best R32 is a non-modded V-spec II, with standard BBS rims & Brembo brakes.

Andy, what's up M8?? I really wish you good luck with the R32. I prefer the R32 mate than the other two. the r33 and r34 may be more advanced but they are bulkier as well. why don't you go and have a look at the japanese import company in kingston road(the one that links kingston new malden)? its on your right hand side just after the HGV rental company. Last time i cecked, they had one. Take care M8! Also try www.ramadbk.com , www.w-a.co.jp and www.bestjapancar.com . all three of them had R32 GT-Rs for sale before

Scooby_XT_Turbo, I'm not keen on the garage you mention. No personal experience, but some I trusted completely with my old car said not to touch them with a barge pole, and that was enough for me!
Why a Skyline, why not?? Maybe I do a lot of motorway miles on the weekends, maybe I'm a tart who wants a Skyline!! I'll leave the choice to you!!
Cheers Chaz, an Impreza driver swapping to a GTR R32. I would respect your opinion on the topic. Where did you get it from, or is it a personal import?
TVR..... hmmmm...... (in a Homer Simpson Stylee!!)
Ian, I'll drop you a mail tomorrow and we'll go into more detail!

Andy, based on the quotes I got insurance is nasty, about the same as an Escort Cosworth, and a whole lot more than a UK scoob, although I have no idea how that compared to your slightly modded example

Andy, go for it mate One of the sparky's at the company across the road from us runs an R32 V spec, which he personally imported about 10 years ago, it's running a fair amount of HKS gear these days and he reckons it's got around 350bhp. when its parked next to my 93 Legacy it actually looks smaller, it is about 8" shorter, probably the same width & the roofline is about 1" lower, although he has lowered his & mine is running std UK MY00 struts. He gets similar mpg to me - p155 poor pays similar in insurance - £1k, and it makes my car look like an unwieldy slow thing It's always been my favourite model of Skyline, and the fact that ten years on he still has the same car says which one Steve rates

Andy,
Personally, I'm in love with the R32's. Such awesome cars that come with incredible race pedigree. Born for the track basically and a lot more 'purer' than the 33's and the 34 that I own. More mechanical than electrical they said.
There is a BIG comeback going on at the moment for the R32. Some say that even though it uses the same engine as it's younger siblings, the block is reported to be a little stronger. The Skyline as it is is without peer when it comes to tuning (except the Supra) and the low price of the 32 makes it an ideal base to tune a car for silly power. A friend has one coming over with a 4 figure BHP and sub 10 second 1/4 mile.
I attended the Evo magazine Skyline test. The reviewer said the 32 was simply the most fun out of the three Skylines and although it broke my heart to hear it, I could see where he was coming from.
If I had to sell my R34 (which I would only do for a 35), then I would certainly look at an R32. Speak to Mark at Abbey Motorsport in East Grinstead Nr. Gatwick. Tell you're a good friend of mine and I'd recommended you speak with him. They are brilliant at what they do and I suggest you get yourself closer to a Skyline.
Hope on over to www.gtr.co.uk for some more info.
