I've probably got road tests galore in the parents loft but won't be up there until December. I just listed the Subaru stuff which ran to 150 tests and brochures.
Anyway what do you want to know ?
Look at Parkers.co.uk for some basic info, but without looking, 1.8 125bhp, 2.0 158bhp, 2.0 GT4 230bhp(+/-)

Just after some info on spec, buyers guide, cost of ownership, etc.
Probably looking at the 158bhp 2.0 GT, as opposed to the GT4, but depends on costs
Info seems scarce, and parkers doesn't give much detailed info as it's so old!

From memory ( I used to have an 89 GT4 but nearly got a 92 2.0GT later) the Celica was pretty good on fuel - about 28mpg overall, but 35 possible at 80 on the motorway. Insurance group was quite high because of parts prices (typical japanese).
Brakes were poor on my GT4 - the only thing I had problems with. Just like with the Subaru, Clutch and Cambelt expensive to replace.
Have you thought of contacting a local Toyota dealer for a) parts prices b) whether they still do stock parts for it. At this age as with most Japs, you start to save a small fortune by going down the specialist breakers route.
Interior was very good IMHO. Started off with small wheels which got larger later on (1992K on ?)
If you're still considering one in a couple of weeks, post again and I'll see what I can find in my 'filing system'

Cheers for the info. I'm still at the investigative stage. Have always liked them, but not got one for one reason or another.
I'll give my local(ish) toyota dealer a bell and see what costs are.

Another thought!
If you do get serious about one - its always worth phoning half a dozen of the independent Toyota dealers (if there are any left now!) and ask them to give you a call if they get one traded in.
At tis age they'd put straight to the trade but if they can make another £500 with you and you end up with a a decent Toyota FSH car in the process, then its worth the phone calls - you never know. Some cars (especially the auto) were bought by more mature owners who bought them for the style and keep them for several years.

Have the GTs got drum brakes at the back or discs? Info is very scarce on these things so anything you can offer will be gratefully accepted Can find info on the GT4s but don't want one of them....need something cheaper Am I right in thinking that the four wheel steering is only on the GT4s?
Saw the revamp around '92 was bigger wheels (not fussed about), introduction of cat (boo hiss!), and better front brakes (would be interested in).
Not sure whether to go pre/post '92. Would be nice to not have to worry about a cat, but better brakes would be useful, although maybe strictly not necessary. Recommendations? Spose I can always put bigger/better brakes on later?

I'd personally only go for UK models, which rules out anything with 4WS or GTR's etc. Reason - avoiding non-standard parts.
I know that I have a few tests of the 2.0GT (sad, but I can picure an Autocar test from 1990) and a Toyota brochure or two from that era. Another car I'd think about from the same era is a UK model MX6 with the 2.5 V6. Handles well, good engine, good kit but rare-ish parts now.

Just seen a car quite local that I've emailed the garage about. Looks a decent price, but scant info. I'll see what happens with that one. Also need to sort the sale of my Scoob out

Car looks clean on web, 112k miles seems about right for year. It's on Autotrader in Sheffield, blue one for 2695 if you can be assed to look
