Does anyone know anything about these car's? Have you test driven one and what do you all think of it?
I've seen a couple in Top Marque's and they look like a bit of a giggle ,but practical enough for the pram etc.
Thank's.
Mac.

Saw one at Maranello's a few months back, for the money it really is a nice bit of kit and its RHD, fantastic sounding and M5 performance, and its rare!, I could be tempted, nice car.

Drove one in NZ couple of years ago. Felt really heavy compared to the Lotus Carlton I drove shortly before, but real fun drive around Wellington in it.
They also do a 2 door pick up with the same lump and power output (gets around Inland Revenue rule on company cars=no tax due as it is not a car)
When I win the lottery........

Very interesting cars, & quite rare even in Oz. The thing that lets the car down is the interior - the fascia is even worse than the classic Impreza in terms of quality.
Local Oz press thought the Ford Falcon Tickford cars have better handling tho.

They are nice motors, especially for the long haul. Particularly fun when the traction control is turned off.
Few Police versions back home (NZ).
Great car for the UK if you want TVR performance from a family car with an anonomous image.

I think the 2 door is called the Monaro. Saw one in Oz in bright yellow - looked excellent. They also do a pick version called the Maloo.
I have a couple of pics of the racers that I saw at the aussie GP on my site:

The Monaro is not a HSV car. It comes with either a supercharged V6 (CV6) or a Gen3 V8 (CV8). It'll soon be sold as the Pontiac GTO in US.
The Maloo is the HSV version of the Commodore Ute, that car is rare in Oz as well.
Instead of the HSV versions, ppl in Oz buy the SS version of the Commodore saloon & Ute instead. The Gen3 V8 in the latest VY Commodore puts out 320bhp.

Thank's for all the reply's. I've just been let down on the purchase of an STI 7 by Motorpoint(that's another story) and the money for said car is burning a hole in my pocket!!!!!
I've looked at Lancer's but they all seemed a but rough. I've always had a soft spot for the Lotus Carlton but I couldn't stomach 15 to 20k for an 10(ish) year old car. So I think I'll make a few call's and sort out a test drive.
Thank's everyone once again:

Does anybody knows which generation of HSV cars are offered as new cars in the UK? I only see the VT series in the HSV UK site. AFAIK, the VT series dates from a few years back. They then had the VX series, and then the VX 2 series. The latest is the VY series, which was launched last month. The Holden dealer I visited, when I was in Oz last month, told me the VX 2 HSV cars are all on 'run-out' special offers, & VY HSVs are coming soon. Does that mean the new HSV cars on sale in UK has been in stock for a few years already?
