Drives very nice, interior is nice (compared to older Mazdas) and I think it looks good. Something a bit Lexus like for the back end.
Many engine variants, and trim levels.
I was told it will be going up against the likes of the Honda Accord etc.
Cheers

Neil,
Taken from Auto Express on 18th June:
"Keen to boost its image among enthusiastic drivers, Mazda is set to unveil a hot edition of the new 6 saloon. The MPS will appear at September's Paris Motor Show, and promises to deliver more than 250bhp from its 2.3-litre turbo engine. A four-wheel-drive version of the 6's well balanced chassis will ensure top-rate handling.
The car will rival the likes of Mitsubishi's EVO VII. Until then, the range-topping model will be the 2.3 Sport saloon and hatch, on sale next month for £17,995. Mazda has also confirmed prices for the rest of the line-up. The entry-level 1.8 S will cost £13,495, while the mid-range 2.0 TS and TS2 are £14,995 and £16,495 respectively."
Hmmmm, 250bhp 2.3 Turbo. That will be good to tune to 300 plus easy And a pic:

This was only recently announced AFAIK so they should still be looking at showing it at Paris.
Not sure re bringing to this country, but I would imagine Mazda will - they aren't like Nissan - since they'll be giving us the RX-8 and have done so mith previous sporty numbers.
In the end tho' - I guess we'll have to wait and see. Looks interesting tho'

Downloaded the brochure off the Mazda website. The range-topper looks good value. Nothing like a scoob-beater but fully specced with xenons, BOSE stereo, leather and sat-nav it still comes in at 22K. Looks really nice in an Audi RS type bright blue BTW.

Top Ger Magazine had it winning the group test against Vectra, Mondeo, Laguna and Superb so it must be pretty good. I was surprised, especially as the old 626 used to get slated.

I think the new 6 might be the real thing. It is supposed to have the focus rear-suspension and lots of bits off the Mondeo. Plus Mazda have taken a page out of the Subaru handbook and added over 8 inches of front and rear wheel travel to give it rally-car style bumb-absorbtion.
I think the 4WD drive system will be from the x-type. This 4WD might be a match for the WRX.

Jeremy: That's Mazda6 to you
Apparently they're really worried that, even though the MX-5 is well regarded, lots of people don't know who makes it! They carried out a survey which showed that people either didn't have a clue, or thought it was made by Toyota, Honda or Nissan.
That's why they feature the MX-5 in the new advert for the 6 (sorry, Mazda6), to try and remind people who makes it in the hope that its reputation will rub off onto the 6 (whoops, there I go again ). Plus, they've requested the motoring press not to just call it the '6', but to always include their name too (a bit like BMW demanding that their new small car not be called the Mini, but the MINI!... pathetic IMHO).
Andy.

used to like the old mazdas had a go in old 323 4*4 turbo which was a damn qick little motor sort of mini impreza .
they lost there way after they ditched the 323 fastback shape and the xedos 6 and 9 never quite made the grade in an image concious sector.
new ones are looking good and they have always been a reliable make
forgot to mention the original rx7 stonking car my old man had three in a row.
