Near my house are a few half decent cars, my MY98, my daughters 1 year old Ka, four recent Polos, a Clio sport, 406 estate, Modeo etc.
Right in front of my house some plonker has stuck a F reg base model Fiesta in fetching white with rust highlights.
Its got a sodding great yellow Crooklock on it!
Why?
Who the hell is gonna nick that?
Answers on a postcard etc.....

Because the door locks (in comparison to some of the newer cars) offer naff all security and so whilst it might not be the most desirable its probably the easiest to nick.
Or would you "prefer" they nicked a "new" car to reinforce your own view of its relative desirability ?
Maybe, just maybe, somebody has saved long and hard for the fiesta and doesn't see it as their civic duty to proivde 20 mins fun on a Sat night to thieving scumbags.

It will take about 15-20 seconds to open the doors and start the ignition and at least 5 minutes to get the steering lock off - sounds sensible to me. If you look at the stats you'll find old fiestas/escorts/novas/astras etc are much more frequently stolen than anything else - just cos it is easy.

Fair enough, but the bloody thing is parked outside my house and I want to park there. Its a grass verge BTW, I'm parked on next doors grass verge and I know he doesn't like it.And it hasn't moved since yesterday AM.
To be honest, its not what it is that pisses me off, its where it is and how long its gonna be there.
Sod it, I'm off to bed.

He's not doing anything wrong unless its your grass verge. Just have to put up with it . I'd not report it to the police as they might penalise all cars parked on grass verges !

I`ve got a B reg Polo for work, i use a disklock on that, and i get the same reaction, you can just see people thinking "what the f...." as i`m putting it on ...hehe
At the end of the day, like whats been said, the locks are crap, theres no alarm/imobliser and i want to get home in the car, not stand/wait around to be picked up because some little ****** has knicked it

I thought it was the case that the figures show the most poplular cars stolen are old(er) and "bangers" as opposed to hot hatches/supercars because its easier to sell them without attracting attention.
