Default CLS AMG

A friend has just been round to show off with his CLS AMG (06) that he's just bought. It was about 13k and milage wasn't high but just wondered why l don't see more of them. The 500 looks ok as well but 13k for all that car, not bad and obviously the noise.

Strangely enough I was watching an old top gear this morning at the gym and it was testing the CLS 500. Looked a great piece of kit to be fair.

Fuel consumption is fairly nasty.

If it goes wrong..... it can be really expensive.

Those that can afford to run them buy newer cars meaning they depreciate fast.

If you want a weekend V8 monster you can do a lot worse and if it goes wrong and you have time to shop round the independents you can usually get it fixed at a fraction of the MB cost.

They are pretty reliable as long as they have been properly maintained.

Bit of a slow reply but for example I see lots of supercharged Rangerovers/RR sports that l think are similar in terms of running costs but fall to bits. It doesn't have to be the AMG, l just don't see that many CLSs in general.
I think they've aged quite well.

The CLS is nice, but if you wanted a secondhand Merc for a weekend cruiser try the CL. The CL is the top of Merc's range and this one would have been £90K new:

That's just one example, but a nice one for sure.

Look for a full history (MB or specialist, but make sure the specialist is a proper one with a good reputation - MBClub and the likes are useful online resources there), proper Mercedes/AMG wheels, no tatty repairs and get a post 2004 one and you will have one hell of a car for little money. They don't even cost that much to insure unless you go for an AMG and even they are not that bad. The CL500 is a beautiful cruiser with all the toys. When you are wafting along you know you are in a £90K top of the range Merc and it only cost you £6K or £7K. Happy days
