UPS have lost my parcel now.
Ordered a gift for one of my lads off Amazon. Amazon sent me an e-mail with tracking number saying it would be with me on Wednesday. Waited in all day: no parcel.
Next morning, the UPS site said it was out for delivery again..it never arrived again, waited in all day again.
THIS morning, same again. A phone call to UPS reveals it WASN'T on the lorry on Wednesday, it WASN'T on the lorry yesterday and it's NOT on the lorry today, plus they can't find it now at the warehouse.
They also insist that THEY can't see what I can...the message saying it's out for delivery today, and that they can't contact Amazon, so I have to do it.
Liars? I think so...and it looks like someone has nicked the gift.
Waiting for Amazon to get back tome to tell me what they can/can't do for me...and what they are going to do as compensation.
The last will probably be nowt.

Never had an Amazon delivery via UPS. Usually either Royal Mail or the dreaded Yodel, they used to use City Link a fair bit too though I haven't had anything from them for a while.
Wish everyone would use DPD, this is the model that all other couriers should base their methods on. Two hour delivery window by text, option to change it to the next day etc. and you can track the location of your package when it's out for delivery in real time on their web site, how cool is that

I've had a similar issue this week with amazon, this time with Hermes.
Ordered a kindle paperwhite and it failed to appear on the nominated day. I checked the tracking on amazon and it seemed that it had been sent to the wrong distribution hub. I phoned amazon and was very disappointed with their customer service approach, at no point did they take any accountability of the problem and beyond sending an email to Hermes to try to find it I was told there was little else they could do.
This continued for 3 days until I got spoke to a chap who wanted to try to resolve the issue. He put me through to the kindle department (US based) and a completely different level of customer service kicked in and a replacement was on its way shortly after.
Amazons service is now starting to be tarnished by their choice of carriers - we see amazon deliveries (if we're lucky..) using both Hermes and Yodel.

Amazon/UPS managed to "lose" an LG 47" smart TV earlier in the year for me.
Amazon/Lloyds bank managed to take unauthorized money from my bank in a different, unrelated transaction a few months back.
I know which Company I don't use anymore. I can't say I've ever had a smooth transaction with Amazon (direct not third party)

I lost a power fc coming from Australia. Actually I never found out exactly what happened to it, and it is possible I was swindled by the seller. It's made me much more wary and careful about buying things like this, so was a costly but valuable lesson.

Yes but Amazon have system with all these agents whereby they get a tracking number for the delivery before it's even been packed and they can't keep up at this time of year. Not saying that is ddefinitely the case here, but it's a distinct possibility.

When I used to use TNT I had the tracking number as soon as I filled in the paper copy to give to the delivery driver. I could give this to the customer before I had even phoned in the collection with TNT.

Yep exactly, point is if you then dont have the package ready for TNT to collect customer has a tracking number for a package that is not in the TNT network through no fault of TNT's..... this is what I believe happens with Amazon sometimes!

Frankly, I wouldn't wait for an important gift to arrive to me on as late as 18th December, as I'd think with a little common sense that the delivery could get delayed no matter what they promise. If it is important, I'd get it shipped to me at least by the end if November at the latest.
If I were in alcazar's shoes, I would have rotated at full speed with my impatience at one spot day and night, this all day waiting in and messing for days would have done my head in. Then I would have had to get new shoes shipped to me, as they 'd have been worn out. You don't need this extra-added stress when you know it's going to be hectic as it is.
Live and learn, alcazar. Never expect anything shipped to you that late from anyone around Christmas time.

Errr, it's not Amazon that's fecking up here, it's the courier companies.
My wife's company uses a pile of different couriers and they are all pretty dire at times.
DPD is by far the best I've seen - excellent service.
Also - why wait in for a delivery - you can get stuff delivered to a local Collect Plus store with Amazon (http://www.collectplus.co.uk/). You get an email when it arrives there and you can collect at your own convenience.

Sorry, but it is! Or rather it could be as we don't know for sure, but one of my customers sells thousands of items on Amazon and in 75% of the cases where the Amazon fulfilment fails it's because they haven't passed the package to the delivery company!

Saying that though, probably 95% of the stuff we order from Amazon arrives when expected, and we order a lot via Amazon Prime.
