Anybody here got one or a friend who has one? Have they ever had any trouble from the law for having / jamming with it? I believe the law is undecided on these yet, any ideas?

Just picked up my first NIP for 87 in a 70! No accident blackspot, low traffic density, perfect weather conditions. Bloody big camera van sitting on long straight, casually generating revenue!

Cheers,

Rob

I have a friend with them but they have yet to be stopped so I guess in time we'll a) know if they work b) know if the cops spot them.....

Unhappy

On a slightly related subject, I noticed in Autocar last night an advert for this book that is supposively written by ex-police and has loads of tips on how to get out of things etc.. including talking about laser and stuff...
Anyone stumped up the £19.95 and recommend it or is it as I suspect b0llox?
Perhaps we could chip in a £1 each?
I am being a skin flint yes, but I hate paying someone money for something that I am not sure on what I am getting etc..

Lidatek have recently released an improved version of the LE850, called the LE-20.

I know of one guy who was targetted by one, and the police officer looked really confused.

There was a group buy a year or so ago on them from www.networxautomotive.com A number of scoobynetters have bought stuff from them(as have I) and found them to be really good.

Legally they are in a gray area, as they could be seen to be 'perverting the course of justice'. However to do this the police would have to prove you were speeding, that the jammer was intentionally switched on and that you had intentionally used it. The Lidatek Jammers also double as garage door openers.

BTW Moving to non scooby..

Just a note but a Jammer will not prevent being caught by a camera van!

I have both a Deflector and a snooper (and a Clean license)

I have been stopped by Plod (NOT SPEEDING) and he spotted the Deflector(Jammer) his comment was that thats illegal to use mate
I retorted smugly I use it to open my garage

His response

Funny that mate when I stopped outside your house the other day to show my son your car I noticed you didn't have a garage

Smugness now gone

after ten minutes of chatting he admitted unless they could tell that someone was exceeding the limit by a long way they couldn't be bothered to try and prosecute for having one

Question

Why won't a jammer stop you getting done by a camera van? I thought these where laser based?

JGM,

I have seen the book in question and it is a waste of money. Most of the things in it are all down to common sense and same sort of info is on ukspeedtraps website.

Cool

Well, i've got all three - Bel 550, Target LE850 and Geodesy.

Short answer - yes they all work.

I've been saved by the Geodesy about 4 times, the Bel550 once, but not so far by the Target, i.e. i haven't met a laser trap head on yet. But it goes bananas every time a fire engine/ambulance/police car comes towards me with strobes flashing - this is a known effect and shows it's doing it's job properly.

With all three i think i'm pretty well covered, but if you haven't got any of them, i'd do Geodesy first, then a radar detector, then a laser jammer, as in my experience that's the order in which you're likely to get caught most.
But of course if they stop the sneaky Gatsos, then maybe the radar detector will be the most useful of the three.

I have LE-850 & Euro 550
550 has saved me more than a few times
LE-850 has not actively saved me, but as Tel says, great for detecting fire-engines, ambulances etc
I did 3 months looking first, I posted on here & got some useful info.....
