What medication have you had already, at what dose and for how long? How long have you had symptoms? I treat it with high doses and prolonged courses of antibiotics with usually great results, hence the questions.

Good luck. I've had a lot of epydidymitis problems myself and it's no joke.

Yep i'm still suffering it 6 months after it first starting. I'm on my 3rd lot of month long 500mg twice a day antibiotics after the last lot each time only temporarily got rid of it. These seem to be having even less effect and so next step looks like into hospital for intravenous antibiotics which will be far stronger.

I've already been in once for an exploratory under general to make sure nothing sinister was going on. Luckily I have employer provided private medical cover as my GP said there was nothing wrong with me and so I insisted on being referred only to be told by the consultant I had chronic prostatitis. I've sinced moved GP surgeries!

It's a total nightmare to get rid of by all accounts which i'm now finding out first hand and when the antibiotics wear off and it comes back by God can the symptoms be nasty.

Had it for around 4 months with lower abdomen pain extending into one ******** more so when sat down. Had 2 four week courses of antibiotics which did help but then it came back.

This weekend the abdomen pain got alot worse along with lower back pain, went to see local GP he says I have gastroenteritis now....muppet.

So have book an appointment with a consultant and will make a claim on the heath care plan if treatment is available.

Im just concerned it has changed from chronic to acute prostatitis !!!

Sounds very similar to me to be honest, just had mine a bit longer. The antibiotics only work for a week or two after finishing them then that pain comes back with a vengeance. I'm finding each time in this cycle it comes back worse which isn't fun. My consultant said it's one of those things with no cure and can take a year or more before it clears off! My GP has suggested the same as the consultant that intravenous antibiotics may well be my next step which means hospital.

Mine could well be stress related as it came along when my stress levels went through the roof and they are still through the roof and until I sort that out I may not get rid of it. The pains can hit you anywhere according to my consultant. Abdomen, *********, up the jacksy, lower back and i've had all those in the last 6 months.
