Have you thought of a Suzuki SV650? Better than either of the other 2 IMHO.

Adam,
Have you had a look at an old VT550 another honda plodder, rawer than the CB and looks better, very cheap, less than a 1k in bike trader. It should be peanuts to insure even with the points.

Performance at that level is surely much of a muchness most having around 60 odd BHP, if ya buying a plodder then you cant go wrong with a VT IMHO, i learnt to ride on one !

Adam,
Honestly dont write of the 550 until you have road the 250 is a pig, and uses a generator engine with bigger carbs !

Your choice but for a run around something like that or an old GT 550 (kwak.) great machines for what they are !

Get a Bros 650. You'll have to do some work (dfferent pipe, get it DJ'd, Blade shock, revalved forks etc) but it's seriously good fun, esp at Cadwell.

what about a suzuki gsx600f. My first bike passed my test last year Looks the business and the insurance is very reasonable. It's very forgiving as a first bike, for all those mistakes, and not too bad on the handlin and speed.
