got my beast out today for the first time this year.
decided to go off road, but left my semi slick tyres on (i've got another set of rims, hubs and cassette for off road that i can swop straight over).
found it to be still wet and muddy up there and i got stung loads by nettles and have all bugs all over me.
anyway, for those that are interested heres a pic of the beast in road going form......

Im a bike nutter!! Looks like a nice bike....But that saddle height looks to me to be a bit low. If it is much lower a smaller frame would have been better. But if your happy leave it. Try it for a week with the saddle about a inch or 2 higher.

This is my GT - now that warmer weather is here I'm now trying to get fit (again) and doing the cycling to work thing. (Just wondering if Optimax will improve my performance )

Nice bike. Very similar to my son's Cannondale with the Killer frame. (There are 5 Cannondales in my garage, and its locked)!
I just got back in from riding mine. Posting whilst wearing my cycling lycra I'm nuts about bikes. I've got a R600 Tour de France Replica road bike but my main love is my mountain bikes.
Today I took my Cannondale F900 to work. Similar to yours but with conventional frame with Headshock. Just upgraded brakes to Magura Louise hydraulics. Wheels have been upgraded too. Shimano XT groupset throughout. Great bike, used it for years now and trips have included the Alps, the Pyrennes, various French events including the Tour VTT (the offroad Tour de France)and the volcano in Tenerife.
My other machine is a bit special....
Cannondale SV3000 full suspension. This was absolute top-of-the-range about five years ago (at £3,600). This has been extensively upgraded too! Carbon spin wheels mainly for pose factor it has to be admitted. XTR groupset, carbon bars, fox air shock, magura hydraulic brakes, hollow cranks (£600 extra just for that!). I've only just got it back on the road last week after a full strip and rebuild. Been fine tuning the suspension ove the last week and now gotit just right with 200 psi in front and rear shocks and damping on mid settings.
Yes,I do use them seriously.
In August I'm cycling from Prague in Czech to Budapest in Hungary about 550 miles in two weeks.
However, next Easter is the BIG one. 30 days cycling in Nepal and Tibet up to North Base Camp of Mount Everest.
Yes, I guess you could say I was seriously into my mountain biking

cool bikes, im gonna be looking into getting a new one. I have a crappy Raliegh thats years old but its survived some serious abuse so i guess its not that bad. I was going to by front suspension but as theyre expensive i may as well buy a new bike. I may actually try & loosen the breaks cos they are permanently on
Can anyone recommend any of the latest bikes before i go and look?

Used to be, about 4 years ago. I've got a Kona CinderCone with XTR kit and RockShox Judys sitting in the garage gathering dust. I'm just too unfit these days to ride it, and now I'm nearly 30 I balk at the idea of wearing Lycra.

Count me in!!
I have a Specialized FSR Extreme full suspension jobby
Been out on Pirbright Common twice this week in the evenings
Got a puncture both times had to push 5 miles to a garage first time got two miles last night and *bang* it blew out again on a brand new innertube. Only had to push for two miles this time (to the same garage - they must be starting to wonder about me ) It's wierd 'cos I've not had a puncture for months, and then two rides in a row
Anyway, went to the bike shop lunchtime and bought myself an UltraFlate Co2 Tyre Inflator for me bum bag, so I won't get caughht out again

Don't you carry spare tubes? When I used to ride we always used to carry 3 or 4 between us, as we'd regularly have blow-outs on downhills. At one stage I could swap and pump an inner-tube in under 3 minutes.

i use this green gunk stuff in my tubes so if i get a puncture it repairs it. i also use anti snakebite tubes.
in my road tyres i use laytex innertubes which weight fark all.

Luke,
It is actually a Raleigh frame from the special products division circa 1994. It is half titanium (the black bits), half ally. It rides like nothing else even the more recent steel exotica. Went single speed as all the original chainset etc. was trashed, and haven't looked back.
Still pull the full susser out for 'proper' single track, but this bike is used everywhere else.
Cheers
