Sanyo Eneloop. They're not the highest capacity, but the important thing is they actually stay charged in storage, so when you come to use the camera after it's been sitting on the shelf for a while the flash actually works.

hence why I'm looking at 2400aMh Duracell stay charged batteries.

don't want to be buying looads of batteries cud the capacity means they run down fast.
the more batteries I take out with me the heavier my kit bag lol

Charger for AAs an AAAs: Technoline BL700 or BC1000 (or technoline icharger), the same charger is also branded as "LaCrosse"

For any other type of cell (Ds Cs PP3s etc): Ansmann Energy 8 plus

Batteries: Ni-MH of "stay charge" variety, these always come pre-charged ready to use (although they will work better with a top up)

Beware of ultra high capacity batteries of unknown brands, I've got quiute a few and they all self-discharge in the space of a few weeks. In otherwords a 2500mAH cell has a practical "real world" capacity of 1800mAH as it loses so much of its charge in the space of a few days (tested and confirmed with my Technoline ). That said I've got some low-self dscharge ones from Aldi and they are OK

Best brands:

Sanyo Eneloop
Uniross Hybrio
Ansmann MaxE

Had Duracell NiMhs before; they were cheap, but not that great.

Echo that.

I have the technoline charger myself. I also use eneloops (I've even got some special edition glitter finish ones lol). I also have a 1/2 hr charger which has been excellent, I use it in my van with a 12v adaptor for charging the batteries in my inspection torches.

Research 18500 Lithium Ion cells, they off the best energy densities around, they also do not suffer from memory effect thus you can use and charge them anytime regardless of their energy state at time of recharge and their self discharge rate is very slow, better than any other chemistry mentioned.

You will need to check if your camera can handle the higher voltage.

Indeed. On certain subjects, I swear I'm borderline Aspergers...

I've got the BL700 and a load of Ansmanns for various things. Hybrios are good too; not massive on mAh but they retain charge brilliantly.

Basically the more mAh, the longer they last in use BUT the quicker they self discharge when not in use. Except the hybrids that lose almost none.

Just bear in mind that rechargeables don't last as long as single use batteries for one cycle and they usually carry a slightly lower voltage (often 1.2 compared to 1.5) so they aren't always the best solution.

Not Li-Ion stuff, all other batteries are garbage in comparison.

GP Recyco

The Duracell ones are just another a rebrand of a lower performing one (can't remember which off the top of my head).

Except the rechargeables are currently 3.6volts so not suitable for most general AA battery items...
