Default Sky diving

Anyone done a straight out sky dive?

Is it possible to do straight off, or do you need to learn parachute jumping first?

Anyone got recommendations in the south east?

Did it at Cambridge two up and I'm pleased to say that I'm glad I was strapped to someone who knew what they were doing. Having said that free falling for a mile before the shute opened was the best moment of my entire life

Does it have to be done strapped to someone first time?

I guess it's quite overwhelming.

See, you saying about the free fall being the best moment, that's what I'm after. There's a few things I'll be doing this year after wasting the last xx years of my life working to live.

Not sure to be honest mate but to get the experience and know you're safe I'd say it was a god way to start

Pretty sure you have to do it two up the first few times and then they will let you know when you can do your first solo. There is a heck of a lot to it, but if the bug gets you you will be hooked.

My friend's son took it up in Aus under a year ago and to date has done over 200 jumps.

I think I've found somewhere that you don't have to be strapped to someone. You do however have two people holding onto you during free fall, one on an arm & leg each!

I'm hoping it'll be one of those things to get out my system rather than an expensive hobby, never know though!

Tempting to free fall all the way, knowing my luck I'd land on a truck full of foam! If I die, the car is yours! There, it's in writing!

Look for accelerated freefall courses, that's what this is and is the only way to get any sort of freefall without a series of pre-jumps. With a week long 'crash' course and some good weather you could get to the required standard to go freefall completely solo - about 5-seconds of freefall which will seem like forever

Having done a solo parachute jump - I can PROMISE you that feeling is one that will live with you forever.

Jumping out (first time I'd ever flown as well!) and looking up at the strap attached to the aircraft you're dropping from at 2000 feet is one hell of a rush.

The rest of the jump is pretty damn amazing as well - my helmet headphones were not working so I had complete silence when I was earthbound. I landed pretty near the cross as well, but honestly: looking down past your feet and seeing NOTHING but hundreds of feet of air to the ground.... you cannot beat that.

You can get details from:

I did a sports jumps course with the RAF and believe it or not you are in the plane, weather dependant just after lunch on the first day. That is 'static line' or where the line is pulled for you by your own momentum (connected to the aircraft).

You can progress past static line if you get the arch right (the position you take up in prep for the chute to open), I never could so I a) stayed on static line and b) suffered with rolling over and getting twisted lines (not as bad as it sounds, could have been a 'lineover')

Its a good crack, but to be fair the best bit was overcoming the need to stay in the plane, then plummeting for what seems like an age, but is about 1 second!

Black knights near Blackpool
I did one a few years back as a present from my missis
Tbh the few hours training was a bit boring.....but I assume life saving
I paid for my mate on the day so I had company and he bottled it at the doors to jump....to be fair I had doubts about jumping out til they started screaming at him
So that was the end of that.....I jumped straight out

I have never been anywhere so quiet in my life....it's strange how silent it is

One of the best things I've done though......just never got round to going back
