Default DIY Olympic Tower Bridge Rings ....

So the Olympic Rings have been installed at Tower Bridge in preparation for the forthcoming games.

With only a month to go before sport's global spotlight rests on London, organisers of the Olympic Games began the countdown in spectacular fashion.
Giant Olympic rings suspended from Tower Bridge have been unveiled, making a striking statement on one of the capital's most iconic landmarks.
London 2012 chairman Lord Coe and mayor Boris Johnson were among the VIPs who watched as the rings - 25 metres wide and 11.5 metres tall - were lowered into place on the central London bridge on the River Thames.
The rings, which weigh three tonnes, cost £259,817 to produce and installing them is estimated to have cost £53,000.

Now on Thursday I was out on a company jolly on the river Thames and took a few photos. Showed them to my wife and she was staggered at the costs but slightly inspired by the photos to make her own version..at a far cheaper price

So you need the following :

Lego Tower Bridge = £210
A few hours spare
One bored wife and child
Cardboard
Poster paints
Some thread
Installation = 56p

See if you can spot the difference

The approach

Closer

Close up

She is not happy with the rings and thinks for an extra 3p she will make them better. The olympic organisers should have asked her to bid for the job

I bet you could find 50+ companies in less than a week who could do that for about 50k.

10-14 days work.

20k for material & labour & 30k in your pocket.Job done!

Who's relation got that little earner?

Oh,and it had better fu*king light up at night for that price.
Anyone know if it does?

What if they worked the weight out wrong and the bridge implodes... That would be wicked...

What are they going to Do with the rings when its over...

Let the pikies have them? Or sell them to the next country.
