This one started with a twinge as I got put of a chair on 30th April last year, (yes, the date is carved on my brain in blood), so eleven months and counting.
Two hours later, I knew what I'd done, and it just got worse and worse. The wife, of course, reckoned I was putting it on...even when I could barely move and was almost weeping with the constant pain
Then, after about 3 months it had ALMOST gone back to normal, when I twisted through a gap between the kitchen table and the stove at the French house and it went again: I FELT it go.
I've lived the last 11 months on the idea, "if it hurts, stop doing it!" and it seems to work, plus the consultant agreed that was the way to go with back pain.
He reckons the op SHOULD releive the pain....we shall see.....
As for doing up the house being a cause, maybe..........but as I said, just getting out of an armchair here in the UK did it this time, and God-Knows-What the last time, so who knows?

Hope the operation is a success Jeff as back woes are very debilitating.
I had a consultation with a neurosurgeon recently who dismissed the option of surgery on the basis of too much disk damage. I have four affected disks and he stated the size, complexity and success possibility of the operation was not a risk worth taking. I have been referred for another procedure with a funny name ( a non invasive procedure) so we'll see how that goes.

Doesn't sound good. Hope the op goes ok Jeff and they get you up about.
I've got a feeling my back is getting worse as I get older and problems with it since my mid teens. I have trapped nerves in my lower back as I have no feeling in my right thigh. Lower back twinges every now and again but I can cope with that....but maybe in ten years time wear and tear will take its toll and I dread that happening.
The only thing of benefit I've been told is to build up more muscular core strength so my back is better supported. There's logic in that, but if it hurts or traps nerves when doing those excercises its kind of a catch 22.

Iv had a ruptured disc for nearly 20 years & although I may need an op one day regular exercise & stretches have kept it at bay. Good luck Jeff I'm sure you'll be fine.
