So...how did YOU spend your Valentine's Day?
I spent mine plumbing..........
I decided to fit the new hot water tank, since the wife has now ordered the new bathroom stuff, it seemed like that ought to be done first. The old one was leaking from where the union was brazed into the copper.
I also decided to move a radiator while the system was drained down.
First thing to go wrong was that once the tank unions were removed, I discovered that there was still water in it. Cue the water to escape through the floorboards, and down into the kitchen via one of our fluorescents......luckily it was off at the time! I removed the tube and bent the wiring so water wouldn't go into it. Need to put that back....
Second thing to go wrong was that the two new pipes to the bathroom taps, which had looped around the FRONT of the old tank, and now went around the rear, stopped the tank from sitting far enough back so had to be re-plumbed to sit flush against the wall. That took some time.
Then, while the waste to the kid's room was removed, the lad dumped a load of tea and stuff down his sink and flooded me out again.... Could have done without that.
And while mopping up, I knocked over a nice Pernod and lemonade all over the floor...what a waste.
Last night we went to bed with no water, neither cold, nor hot, we had buckets filled from the neighbours to flush the loos, and a large water carrier for drinks and teeth brushing. The plates and stuff from tea went dirty, just piled. Awful.
Today saw me get up and start again, after waking and thinking it had all been a bad dream.
I was having awful trouble getting the pipes into the 22mm compression fittings on the indirect coil, so cut a hole in the airing cupboard wall to get access..still to be repaired.
BUT: the vibration brought a one kilogram conch shell off a top shelf right on top of my head...I now have a knot like a fekkin acorn. AND the bazzing thing has knocked a chunk out of my new laminate flooring...luckilit it's on the edge board so easy enough to replace. But I could have done without it!
Finally got the cold water back at 3pm, it went off yesterday at 1pm.
The hot water went back on at 8pm, it had been off since 8am yesterday.
So....next time you get a large plumber's bill...you know why

Lol, I actually did a bit of "light" plumbing today
We are having some building work done, and the builders told me that I may have a leak in the bath waste/drain system
Queue me investigating the bathroom plumbing, to find the yes the overflow piping had a slight leak - all dried off and reassembled with a new gasket and some bathroom sealant

At the last minute decided against going out, so stayed at home and I nipped out to get some Tesco yellow-sticker-reduced items for dinner, with some wine. Romance is alive and well in the GoodMeat house.

Saturday mainly consisted of work. Then pub for a Bathams and hot pork sarnie. Then home, vegetate, then a Satay beef Chow Mein, vegetate some more, then bed.
I enjoyed it - usually have someone dragging me out somewhere against my will. And when I am single I usually have someone trying to pair me up with someone for a date....no ta. I can do it meself.

I think some people enjoy the status of being the rescuers. So what they do is try their best to make you a victim of their own selection; like some arranged frikking marriage. In that sense, they're actually perpetrators with nowt better to do in their lives than stupid match fvvking making.
Then there're some desperate people who want know if you have a mate or so on tod. You can't win.

Took my missus out for dinner.
I live in Wokingham near Reading, booked a restaurant in Oxford so I could take the car for a blast.
Once we had finished I then offered to go to Swindon outlet with her so she could go shopping, letting me sneakily get even further from home.
She is still questioning why I booked a table so far away!

You don't have to pair off with anyone, if you don't want to, mate. Don't let the society dictate to you what's late and what's not. Sometimes, 'it's better to walk alone, no one can hurt you'. This slogan was sent to me by someone on WhatApp, with a Google picture of a cute, little fairheaded boy walking away with his back on the show. I quite liked the slogan.
