Ernest Jones lost the wifes watch! !!
took my wifes raymond weil watch to Ernest Jones to be sent off fir a service at the end of july. they said it will take approximately 3 to 4 weeks so call us beginning of sept.
so my wife rang today and they have no recollection of the watch apart from a receipt to say we dropped it off with them. we also have a copy of this receipt. .
so for 5 wks its gone missing and no has told us!!
they said they are going to look for it and ring us back....
what do I do?
if they find it.
its still got to be sent away for service. so im not paying the £ 130 they originally asked for..
or if they cant find it will they have to give us a new one? even though thay watch is not made anymore,
plus it does not say on receipt what what raymond weil watch it is. so do I add a bit on???

Send a letter with signed for ticket telling that if not found within 5 working days then you require them to supply the equivalent watch to your wife. Specify which model you want. Don't "add a bit on".
If this doesn't work get trading standards involved.

The jewellers send them to a local watch repairman sometimes even on the market
They pay a tenner and charge the customer many times more then that as a handleing charge
Same thing happen to the misses took 6 months to find it then it didn't even work properly
It will be lying in some Repair shop someware gathering dust while the watch repairman holds onto it untill they pay the last invoice

you may need to go back through a debit receipt to find the original purchase cost and that way you can prove what it cost, don't need to add anything on as the replacement would in threory cost more now and they should sort you out for the inconvenience.

I've got a nice casio i'll trade you the receipt for.
One slightly dodgy thing though, I have a Raymond Weil watch and when I enquired about having it sent to them for a service it was 10 weeks and around £200, and that was around 3 months ago.
