Cool A real snowstorm

Just put up this couple of minute video from the Antarctic crossing I did, we were stuck here for 37 hours, it took 6 people to put the tent up, wind was gusting 95 kph.

You did well to cope with all that. I presume it was not actually snowing, you might have lost sight of the tent if it had been.

Les, the weather had been the worst for 18 years, so there was a "lot" of snow to blow about, we had tried driving on the gps but we were in the midst of a sastruggi field and could'nt risk smashing the suspension. Here is a image of the other truck in front when we decided to stop.

Yes it was obviously a pretty difficult time you were having to say the least.

I meant that if it had been actually snowing that it probably would have drifted all over the tent whereas it looks as though it was largely blowing snow off the ground so the drifting was not so extreme as it might have been.

Not my idea of fun anyway!

Les, part of the science mission was to collect snow samples, would you believe we could'nt find the right kind of snow!
PS hope the tickers on the mend.

Thats looks very cold too

I know its a little different but seeing that picture makes me think of the fog we had last week where I could only see about 5ft in front of me and that was scary so driving like that with the added snow must have been pretty hairy.

Jacko, I was on sleep rota when they decided to put the tent up so missed that bit of "fun".
Paul, think it was nudging -36c wind chilling to -47c , the strange thing is even though the wind speeds are high, due to the air density at 3000M you can still get about, just can't see very far!

Sod's law isn't it. Still you must have felt it was quite an achievement anyway.

Still hanging on thanks . got to go in for checks on 19 April.
