My Tax ran out end of feb, how many days do i have to get a new one? is there a grace period? if anyone know?

I had applied for a replacement registration document as i have misplaced mine and it should be here by Monday. So will apply on-line for a tax disk then.

So should i get pulled, can i say i have already applied and it is in the post?

You "sort of" have 2 weeks. You get a reminder in about 14 days from due date.

The fine is for not displaying the tax disc.

So for instance, my wifes tax came a few days ago. She, being incapable of opening any form of post, particularly if it looks like a bill, put it on the side and left it there and there it remains this morning. Should she get pulled if she gets a pi55y copper that won't let her off, she'll be fined.

As above, technically, you have two weeks before you have to declare your car sorn.
You cannot drive the car in this time though as it is an offense to drive with no valid tax disc displayed.

I know of at least one person who was caught out in thinking he could drive for two weeks whilst he waited for the new tax disc to turn up.

There is another way


Drive around with the reminder form, MOT certificate and Insurance document and cheque in your briefcase. When you get pulled by a copper and he starts to issue you with a fine/producer, explain and show all this information and say you were just about to drive to the post office tomorrow
