Default shower failure on xmas eve !!!! could have been a disaster

Just a quick one my lad wanted a shower so nothing out of the norm he pulls on the isolator switch jumps in the shower and presses the switch no problems...10 mins later he shouts me so i dash up stairs he's out the shower and no water is coming out of the shower head but there is a vent on the bottom left corner were water is pi$$ing out of ,so quickly turn off the shower to investigate.
The shower is a Triton Jade 3 .

I noticed there was alot of lime scale in the bottom of the bath so pressume this has built up in the heater and spat itself out ,after cleaning things ie shower head and hose still pi$$es out of the bottom of the vent .

Any ideas anyone only fitted it less than 6mths ago!

Pressure diversion valve?
There may be a build-up of scale in the shower hose or head.
Take the hose & head off and try it again.
If that solves the flow problem then try some descalant.

Tried cleaning the hose and head all clear I think there's still some scale in the heater but it's sealed is there a solenoid valve that opens when the heater is blocked ?

Don't these have the safety bungs in them?
I went to one and it had blown a pea sized ball out of it (can't remember make or model).....it was rendered useless though once this had happened

Most showers have a non-resetable pressure relief device.

As Donni mentioned all Redring showers blow a small plastic pea sized ball out which has to be replaced with a new part.

The Triton has something similar on the bottom left of the element assembly.

The pressure relief device blows normally due to a blocked or restricted shower head, or if the shower hose is a plastic type (with no steel spiral around it) and has been kinked while in use.

I've never been to one thats blown the pressure relief device due to a scaled up element.

As a temporary fix ...... put a small dab of silicone up the pressure relief pipe, making sure the shower head and head is completely unblocked 1st!

Quickest way to fix it will be to order the part yourself which will be less than £10, if you want to wait the manufacturer MAY replace it foc ................ Redring are funny about this though as its normally due to the user not keeping the shower head descaled.

Our old Santon did this (long time ago).

It was crap anyway - pathetic flow and guzzled the electric. So we had a combi boiler fitted which allowed us to have a proper shower fitted instead.
