Passport- What a joke!
I got married a few weeks ago and the mrs is in the process of changing her name everywhere she can! We rang the Passport office and they told us that there 'Is no legal requirement to change your name on your passport!' Eh!?
We were then advised that if we wanted to book a holiday whilst her passport is still valid (8 years left) then she could book it in her maiden name, even though it's not her name! So, driving licence, all the bills, phone contract, work ID and Union stuff etc are in her married name and Passport is in another? Surely that can't be right? You go through the whole process of getting a passport and they're not even interested that you've changed your name until it comes to renewal time!
Its either lose 8 years worth of the passport and buy a new one or go by a different name when we travel! Kind of makes a joke of the whole system if you ask me!
Also, the biggest PiTA for her were PayPal, they wanted copies of marriage cert and new driving licence fact to them and then some other forms to fill in, whereas the banks were the easiest!
Rant over, carry about your business

just take the marriage cert with you in case any questions are asked, just book any holdiays in her maiden name no issues to have we did it and even travelled to the USA a couple of times before changing names on passports.

It was a PITA when we went to New York and my husband managed to book it in my new name, but my passport was still in my maiden name - I am very lazy when it comes to stuff like this. When we got to the airport on the way home, I'd produced my marriage certificate about 10 times and the lad on the gate kicked up a fuss too, so much so I thought he wasn't going to let me on. He did eventually, so I would say just change it, it's so much less hassle!
With regard to PayPal, they are a proper pain in the bum....

Well we want to go on a Cruise in a couple of years (flyin in to LA) so I think she (we) will have to bite the bullet!
With Paypal, thinks she's gonna get a new one with her new name and new email!
