I am after some new tyres for 16 inch wheels and the prices I have been quoted are a joke to say the least!!!
SO-2 £150
F1 eagle £133

I am after a set of 4 and there is no way I'm paying £600.

Anyone know of any cheap places in the West Midlands?

How much!

If I'd have been quoted that much, I'd have asked which kind of wheel they throw in for the price!

Seriously though... SO2's seem to go for about £400 for the set of 4.

I went for Toyos in 16's and paid less than £350 for the 4 all inclusive.

I'm sure some of the West Midlands folks will be able to help you out on where to get them there, but if you can't find better, I can advise you on some places in the South of England... (might end up being worth the drive for saving £200+! )!

Schuey,

Wow another example of the north south divide. I've paid £65 for F1's and just had Toyo's fitted for £70 each. But I guess Carlisle is too far for you to travel.

Schuey......I`m in the same predicament as yourself, i need 4 new tyres this weekend, preferably Toyos. So what is it with the Midlands tyre suppliers.

Yesterdays response " Toyos, what da ya want them for, there cr@p, low budget, we don`t sell `em"

Don`t fancy travelling the 80 mile round trip to Northampton Tyres, i`ll have a good ring round today and see what i can find. Got some telephone numbers of the Toyo website for local dealers, will let you know!

Try a company called HDT who are in Notts. They have a website at tyres-sold-online.co.uk - and seem to offer cheap performance tyres that they would mail to you.

I don't really know the individual prices and you've got to get them fitted obviously - BUT maybe the savings are worth the bit of hassle?

Question

DaveW,

Just as a matter of interest, where in Carlisle did you get your Toyos.

schuey - that's expensive! I got some Eagle F1's recently and they cost me 155 squids each and they were 265/35/ZR18's!!!
All places local to me were quoting around 300-320 squids but Micheldever tyres get theirs from Europe apparently - much better!

I just bought 205 50 16 s from Micheldever for ~£100 each. Delivery next day added £7 for two tyres very efficient and cheap!!!
Locally tyre dealers couldn't match the prices one admitted his price to buy in was more than Micheldever retail!!!

I picked up the yellow pages today and did some phoning around. These are the prices that I got, all in for 4 tyres. I hope you are all sitting comfortably!!!!!!!!

SO-2 £600-£678
F1 eagle £450-£568
T1-S £361

I don't mind travelling a little bit for a good price on tyres, but could really do with some this weekend.
I'm in Nottingham on Monday ( Scoobymania). Have not tried for P Zeros, any one rate them?

Thumbs up

Schuey....

Phoned everywhere yesterday for a set of Toyos.....
nobody had them in stock

Spoke to Kingsway tyres in Coalville nr Ashby (01530 812455), not only were they the cheapest at £74-00 plus VAT a corner, they also sent there rep to pick 4 up for me from Toyo so i can have them fitted this morning.

Top service if you ask me, should be all scrubbed in ready for Wales next weekend

Completely given up on tyre suppliers in the Worcestershire area, so got some prices from Micheldever. All in for 4 tyres:
S0-2 £425
F1 eagle £370
P-Zero £402

Looked at the map, thought about it, and went for it.
SO-2s fitted.
It cost me about 3hrs of my Saturday and £25 in petrol. Far better than the £600-£678 that I had been quoted.
I could have got Toyos nearer but they were my third choice.
Anyway it was a good drive on unfamiliar roads.
