Default Do UK networks install CarrierIQ on their devices ?

Was just reading an article on this software, and its quite annoying to know they can and do use this stuff.

T-Mobile have admitted installing it on some of their devices. Not sure if thats in the UK too..

Use this to check if you have it or not.

Wasn't going to post anything about this as I didn't want to give Jack Clark a hardon of anything Android

lol

Cheers for the links mate. Irritating as hell that manufacturers and networks do these things. Im pretty sure if they asked people to opt in for data sharing, some would happily share the needed info.

Carrier IQ is install on a variety of devices including Iphone.

It's been quite exciting over in the Android world after TrevE got a cease and desist letter from Carrier IQ- who then subsequently apologised after being threatened by TrevE legal representatives

This was carrier IQ attempt to dampen the whole issue down. Well as you can read everywhere, it looks carrier IQ are in the sh't as are some carriers.

Cheeky ******* tracking our movements and logging keystrokes etc- very naughty

Indeed, if it was for something specific then fine, but having so many functions etc, it is like being hacked or bugged. Wrong!

Apple always ask before enabling data recording, but it's very easy to click yes.

The problem with Carrier IQ, even if you think you have turned it off it is still logging data

More trouble for CIQ

So it appears that it is still present in some apple products

Doesn't bother me. But then there isn't much I use my phone for that would be that private barring the calls themselves. That is, assuming personal information is logged, which everyone claims it isn't (although it could be an exploitable vunerability by hackers).

Unless its background running/logging causes the battery to last only a few days.....

I was loving the location logging on my iPhone last year, much better than any GPS I've ever owned, I didn't need to turn it on and it was running all the time. Made a little movie.

Carrier iq is not on any of the nexus phones, which is rather nice.
