Default Two Stroke Mixes...

Hi guys,

I've got a leaf blower which uses a 40:1 mix and also a strimmer which uses a 50:1 mix. Trouble is I don't really want to have to make up two mixes of fuel. I'm looking to buy a couple of these "one shot" pre-measured two stroke additives which are designed for a 5L can.
Is it that important to get the right mix or can I use one mix for both machines and get away with it, and if so which one?!
Cheers peeps! Mike.

I've always used 50.1 mix in everything and had no problems with any of my machines , I do use original stihl oil though nothing else.

Good oil and you will be fine with 50:1

You might find the leaf blower will smoke a tad as it's running with too much oil. It might foul the plug a bit too. I'd say you'd more than likely be fine though, go for it and see what happens

Always better to go too rich than too lean. Too rich will be smoky and maybe foul the plug. Too lean risks engine failure.

Not too worried about the blower dying but the strimmer is a beaut. I've ordered some Stihl oil 'shots' so it should be okay. Thanks again people, good work.

Better to run oily than dry so to speak

Oily will give smoke and fouled plugs at worst

Dry will sieze your engine

I run one shots in all the garden machinery, regardless of what it is

I just guess and if it runs a bit smokey that's fine. Don't think 40 or 50:1 really makes that much difference. I'd err on the 40:1 if in doubt. dl

It'll be fine with a 50.1 mix.
