Gaddafi or should i say Maddafi!
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...e-2225168.html
Forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi were yesterday said to be launching fierce counter-attacks as the Libyan uprising edged closer to the capital and the dictator chose to blame Osama bin Laden and teenagers on hallucinogenic drugs for the rebellion.
Amid ominous descriptions of groups of pro-Gaddafi militiamen gathering on the roads around Tripoli, there were reports that the minaret of a mosque in Zawiya – 30 miles west of Tripoli, where protesters had claimed victory – was being pounded by heavy weapons. Troops were said to be filling the streets of Sabratha, 50 miles to the west of the capital. A Libyan newspaper reported that in Zawiya 10 people had been killed, and a witness told the BBC that pro-Gaddafi forces had used machine-guns on unarmed residents in a main square of the city.

Not at all shocked, unfortunately. The chap is a perfect example of a mad dictator. Wonder if he'll be "invited" for a "holiday" somewhere by someone?

You know someone is getting old and senile when they blame everything that is wrong in their country on foreigners, youths and druggies...thats even true in the UK!

This kind of prooves he is just as unhinged as he used to be, it does sound pretty much certain he sanctioned the Lockerbie bombing so for that reason, I am hoping he meets a messy and unpleasant end, in the style of Hitler, as I dont think he is far off in terms of what he is prepared to do, sending fighter planes to strafe his own people.
I do hope he is ousted but it does make me wonder, and worry slightly what will replace him, say one thing for him, he has been fairly quiet for the last twenty years.

I rather like Gaddafi: cool clothes; eye-liner; virginal female bodyguards; doing billion-dollar deals cross-legged in a bedouin tent. He's a rebel. He's rock 'n' roll!

It looks like he wants to go out in a blaze of glory. If he had any sense he would have left for a country willing to harbour him where he couldn't be extradited from or the UN get to him to try him for human rights abuses/war crimes. South America I would have thought was his ideal retreat.
The fact he is still in Tripoli backs up the theory he is insane because either the Libyan people will get him and kill him or the UN will get to him and bang him in jail and send him to trail to spend the rest of his days locked up.
I should imagine the CIA are busy in Libya right now getting a US backed puppet Government ready to take power for when he does go.

If the people get their hands on him I think he can look forward to an association with a rope and the nearest lampost.
The next worry of course is that if he is overthrown, will another despot move in and put the people in the same position as before!

Are you a Gaddafi fan, too? I love the white uniform he wears with the gold detailing, he looks so handsome in it, especially with all those fancy medals.

so he's tried the shootem route, so now he's tryign the bribery route
'Libyan state TV has said the government will give each family 500 dinars (£250; $400) to cover increased food costs, while some public sector workers will receive a pay rise of 150%.'
me thinks he should take some advice from here, run while he still can
