I caught the tail end of it I will have to catch up on i player.
personally I have seen people fresh out of uni walk into jobs that they dont have a clue what they are doing, when there are people who know the job like the back of their hand who have been overlooked because they are not in with the boys at the top. Who you know what not you know.

I didn't watch it but the graduates at my uni who got good jobs within the field of study, were good at ingaratiating themselves with the lecturers and that led to jobs in industry. Most of these were women as well.
I've only ever got by on my ability at my job. I have always rejected the idea of sucking up to a clique or whatever because you lose your integrity and independance.

I'm a great advocate of meritocracy but sadly the world doesn't always work that way. The saying I remember (when counting to 10) is that the toes you tread on today may be wearing the boots you have to kiss tomorrow.

Just watched it on iPlayer - thought it was pretty poor to be honest.
You need to work as an intern to get into high end fashion - duh!! Mostly because there are hundreds of girls willing to do it.
The comment about only the wealthy get on as it takes £15k to pass the bar - I appreciate £15k is a lot of money - but if someone really wants to pass the bar they could get together the £15k. It might take a year or two, but definitely possible.
Seemed like a lot of anti-Tory rhetoric.

Don't be ridiculous.
If someone really wanted something they could go out and get it.
To go back to my favourite subject - some of the most successful people on Wall Street came from nothing backgrounds. Being different and having to work bluddy hard to get in probably gave them what it took to get to the top.
My mother was unmarried and 16, from a council estate in Middlesborough when I came along - hardly a paragon of privilege.
