Strange device for flattening clothes.........
My wife has this thing she uses for flattening her clothes, calls it an "Eye-on" or something like that.
Recently she's been complaining that it's base was dirty and putting marks on her clothes. Well, duh! You rub your clothes with a piece of metal and expect them to stay clean?
Anyway, now it appears that this dirtiness is my fault and MY job to remove
Anyone know firstly what will remove it? Brillo pad? Hitting her repeatedly with it?
And how can she stop it getting muck on again.........sorry, how can I stop it getting muck on again, since it's my fault?
TIA

I checked with Mrs Paul and she says clean/change the filter thing usually located on the base/stand when it is stood up. once changed run a tank full of water through it on steam setting facing down on a old cotton towel.
Its like a foreign language!
She would have typed this herself only the chain from the kitchen will not reach...

I would recommend a cold beer followed by quiet reflection on today's confusing events, this "eye-on" device sounds interesting.... I wonder if it could be used to heat pizza while watching telly?

The muck is probably plastic residue from ironing over plastic buttons, directly ironing vinyl prints on T-shirts, or ironing polyester/acrylic with the heat set too high (Why TF do I know this? ).
If its a stainless steel base, some form of pure cutting compound (T-cut, Brasso etc.)would probably do it. I'm guessing here. I dunno. Irons are not really my field of expertise.
If its Teflon coated or ceramic, your screwed. I'd chuck it and buy a new one

Give her a slap for getting it mucky and tell her she needs lots more practice once cleaned.
Buy her a new one for xmas and tell her to be greatful
Note the above advice may lead to withdrawal of marital rights and sulking

The base seems to be ally, it's come clean with the application of a Brillo pad and much energy.
Now whether it STAYS clean, or whether it now transfers ally marks onto everything, your guess is as good as mine.
Why do fashions that require wrinkly clothes never catch on ?

Once it had gone cold, it just came off like a sheet of wafer thin paper
there is a stick you can rub on as a cleaner, but i cant seem to remember
from where it came . (bettaware or similar)

Safer to just buy a new one and say as little as possible!
