Interesting that there had been a Super Injunction in place since the Summer to hide what was going on to free them. I wondered why it was never mentioned on the news.

Now they're back can we prosecute them for being idiots in the first place, a fine of £600,000 seems about right..

This is not good news, it proves to the Somali pirates that kidnap and extortion pays and is without consequence.

Today they are £600,000 richer.

They are rich already, the even have a kind of stock exchange where people can buy shares in a pirate expedition. Locals make like $100,000 just by buying a share with an RPG for example.

In the pirate towns everyone drives around in Porches.

So you must think that the pirates are completely within their rights to kidnap innocent people and imprison them for over a year. Perhap's you also praise the Navy for standing by and allowing the Chandlers to be kidnapped while they were watching!

Isn't it terrible when people sail on the oceans and get themselves kidnapped when they have done nothing wrong in the first place. How can one possibly blame the pirates? Its a bit like having a house and possessions which tempt burglars to break in and steal it all! We are all gulity of that of course!

Were they present when captured , i think not ? , also not really their job more a small tactical force sent in which is what happened ?

..and of course we stumped up some wedge thro the back door so as not to embarrass HRM

Its a precautionary tale tho to sailors and if you want to visit Tanzania you should crawl up the coast NORTHWARDS

Yes the Navy was watching and used the excuse of the safety of the Chandlers and it was mentioned that the pirates had the human rights not to be shot at as well!

Glad to see however that the Navy caught and disarmed a bunch of pirates recently and confiscated their ammo and sunk their boat. They released the pirates on the Somali shoreline.

You're an idiot - they're also idiots, maybe all you idiots should go sailing off somewhere dangerous together... like a Saga holiday for the old and mentally retarded, maybe even a touch of sightseeing through Basra, and if you get kidnapped it can be everyone else's fault!

Captured due to idiocy. No need to be there at all but nice that they are safe.

Shame on the UK pen pushing culture for paying up though. At least the Russians still know how to deal with these things...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8675978.stm

Ten suspected Somali pirates captured by the Russian navy last week may have perished after their release, a defence source in Moscow has told reporters.

Marines seized them during a dramatic operation to free a hijacked Russian oil tanker far from shore, killing an 11th suspect in the gun battle.

They were released in an inflatable boat without navigational equipment.

Within an hour, contact was lost with the boat's radio beacon, the defence source said.

"It seems that they all died," the unnamed source was quoted as saying
