Taser boss kills himself
Im sure we will have lots of "I'm shocked","shocking news", " I'm stunned" jokes so that's some of them out of the way.

Apparently he had recently become depressed over the Moat case

I am truly saddened by this news
I sort of knew this guy - many years ago. I worked for a summer in a bodyshop he used to use for bodywork and paint for his cars. He is/was a legend and his name did strike fear into "neer do well's" in northants.
Police Sargent Pete Boatman when i knew him back in the early 80's . He was a petrol-head he used to own and restore Mk2 Cortina 1600e's where a real passion - (amongst others) to concourse standard. He was a nice guy, hard but fair. Blackbelt (cannot remember is 'dans') in several martial arts and never afraid to get stuck in to sort out trouble and back up his fellow officers. He could be relied on. This guy was 'hard' and not to be messed with at work. he took no lip and no prisoners (obviously he did take prisoners give his job).
From what i remember he was a likeable honourable man a chap you could rely on and trust to do what he said he would do.
IMHO The Police could do with a few more tough, no nonsense cops like Pete. I am damn sure he would have only ever tried to do the right thing.
RIP Pete

Even so I would still say it's sad that a life has been lost over this.

From reading the report and whats been said on here it sounded like he was trying to help the police by giving them a more powerful option, i agree with whats been said in that we need more of this type of person connected with the police force.
This is another innocent person thats lost their life due to the Raoul Moat situation.
RIP
