Default New watch..... where from?...

I've been thinking of getting a new watch for a while (probably all the watch threads on here have slowly been brainwashing me!) - but basically I want to get something fairly smart for daily use.

Fancy a Breitling, but don't really want to spend more than £1000-1500 - £2k max if I find something that really takes my fancy (for daily use remember - it will get scratched etc)

Question is - where's a good place to buy from? Options seem to be high streets Jewellers like Goldsmiths (looks to be expensive?), a watch specialist online? (like watches.co.uk) - these also offer a good selection of used watches? Any reason why I should not be tempted with these? Last option is get one of my mates in the RAF to get one for me - RAF discount obviously, but not sure if realistically its a massive saving or not? Ebay too risky?

Anyone able to offer any advice? Thanks

Just ordered a Hydro conquest from swiss watches direct.Got a 4 week wait though but large saving.Confirmed with AD there is a backlog on these models though who checked with Longines direct

Holding my breath a bit as there is so much doom and gloom about not buying from authorised dealers.

Seems genuine so far and lots of Breitlings on there.

If it doesn't turn up I'll be starting a different thread!

Market Cross Jewelers.

You get 15% off just walking through the door.

I got 17.5% off my Breitling Navitimer World, and 21% off my Oris "Der Meistertaucher"

Don't know if the have one in Leeds, but they have stores in Middlesbrough and Yarm.

If your near leeds have a look at Blowers Jewellers in Hull, bit of a drive but do some quality watches, both used and new

Managed to get myself sorted out with a Breitling in the end - should be arriving tomorrow - can't wait

Was pretty sure I wasn't going to spend over £2k at first, but once you start looking it's hard to hold back

Thinking watch insurance might be a good move tho - going to look into it.

Where from? Did you go online? Depending on how much you didn't hold back(?!) house insurance might cover it?

Still got another few weeks to wait! Frustrating as I like things instantly!
