Charity Bike Ride
Hi Everyone!
This is a blatent begging post for some sponsorship for a charity bike ride I am doing in a couple of weeks which will be raising money for the local cancer hospice in Northampton and Macmillan Cancer Support. More info can be found here: http://www.cycle4cynthia.co.uk/index.php
I am hoping to raise £100 this year which will be greatly more than last year!
The bike ride I am doing is 50 miles and takes in some of the undulating Northamptonshire countryside including the highest point in the county. I have been practicing and did 38 miles of the route yesterday and it is quite tough!
Anyway, thanks for reading, my sponsorship page is: http://www.justgiving.com/Clare-Malings Please remember to Gift Aid.
Thanks in advance,
Clare

Hi Clare,
Best of luck on this. I did the 100 mile Pedal for Scotland cycle yesterday, further than I've ever cycled before!
Did it as part of a group (Edinburgh Road Club - I'm not a member but am pals with a couple of members). I commute regularly by bike - 10 miles each way, hilly on the way back! I also do cycles at the weekend but not normally more than 40 miles. I trained by doing a couple of 60 mile runs. The odd thing was that the 60 mile runs were harder than the 100 mile run because I took it a bit easier on the latter, stopping three times!
Anyway, great camraderie with the folks on the ride and you'll benefit from your training.
I raised £109 for a local children's charity - "It's Good 2 Give".
All the best,
AndytJ

I know it does, and is appreciated, cheers.
Anyone else? £1 would be enough, honest! (If every SNET user gave a pound, they could cancel the whole event and that would save my legs!)

I've raised £145 so far, so exceeded my target of £100 by a bit. I have been promised a fiver elsewhere too, so I am happy with that as much as the Hospice and Macmillan Nurses will be.
Countdown is 5 days and counting.....

52 miles, 3 hours 43 minutes done. Going for a lay down!
Raised £155 on the Just Giving page and some externally, so I'm sure Macmillan Cancer Support and our local hospice will be pleased.
Was really good fun actually, everyone was in good spirits and over 700 riders took part in the whole event of 5, 25 or 50 mile rides.
