Question Loft and Cavity Wall Insulation Grants

Are they still available or is the deficit suddenly more important than AGW?

Not too fussed about the walls but our new house has shocking loft insulation and it's too **** a job for me to contemplate doing it.

Ta in advance.

A phone call to your local council will tell all.

Is that not just a private company though?

I got loft insulation recently via one of these grants. You need to be on a low income and usually in receipt of something like child tax credits ot working tax credits. You fill in the online form and someone calls you to arrange an appointment. For me a guy came round, had a mooch round our loft and then made the necessary arrangements for two other lads to come and fit it. When they did it took about 20 minutes for rem to simply roll it out. Definitelt makes a difference as we have solid walls.

Oh the company I used were called Global Insulation. Have a look on their site to see if you qualify. Most of Waitrose shopping NSR wouldn't.

Well I filled in my details and Weatherseal called me, so the website is a private marketing tool.

£300 to insulate the loft and cavity walls. Does that sound reasonable for a detached house?

B&Q were doing 3 rolls of insulating wool for £3 a few weeks back. They repeat the offer about every six months.

But tragically, I am too idle to do it myself.

What do you do with downlighters in the ceiling?

I've found good advice on the cables from the IET http://www.theiet.org/forums/forum/m...threadid=33326 but wonder what to do with the downlighters we have in two bathrooms.
