I have a cracking little apple tree in the garden and seems to be a bumper crop this year, cold winter I think. Anyway Britain's remaining Bumble Bee has done a good job but I have far more than I can use. I'll give some to my neighbours but the local kids probably don't know what an apple is

So how do I keep some for a few weeks? I have tried before but they soon go rotten.

In a fridge? In the garage?

Please advise.

Wrap in newspaper, individually, and store in cool + dark place.

Make apple candy and sell them to the kids, kaaching!

I don't think eaters cook very well but might boil up a few and see.

My sis hired a cider press for some apples she had and made a nice brew apparently.

I've been banned from drinking so that nice thought is out

I think I'll wrap them and store in fridge and some in garage.

Eating apples make crap cider,wrap apples up in tissue paper put in wooden box in a cool dry dark place,discard any that are not perfic as they will rot the rest.Dont use newspaper it bruises skins,we use to store apples this way for christmas.Make wine,extract juice from apples,filter into container,add metabysulfate tablet to kill wild yeast,stand in cool area for couple of days,then add wine concentrate and sugar top up with champagne yeast,you will land up with a hock type wine.I used to make 20 gall a year with Kingston black apples,yummy

You always read "cool dark place". Trouble is I don't really have one. This time of year attic is like an oven and even garage gets hot!! Shed is even worse. Try a bit of everything I think. May be in a box in shady part of garden. dl

we have a Bramley apple tree (cooking apples)
we're getting ready to store ours up... and we put them in orange/apple/fruit boxes you get from tesco.
store in the garage... and we last used the last good apples that were stored, about March this year!!! they lasted that long.

actually we have an apple tree too and boil them with a little sugar and freeze in those chinese takeaway plastic cartons

We still had apples in the spring from last Autumn. They were stored as described above - well ventilated, dark and cool. Lying, not touching on newspaper.

They will store a long time like that.

We used to wrap ours in newspaper, even if they were not quite ripe, and put them in the loft. They were always just right for Christmas.
