Norfolk Broads
We are thinking about hiring a boat for 3-4 days on the broads in August. I like the idea of getting up each day and finding some were else to vist eat and sleep. We are also looking to take the dog.
Has anyone been would you recommend it?
Any good companys you hired a boat from.
Thanks

I love it! - done it many for many years.
There really are only two major booking companies Hoseasons and Blakes. All the local boating companies hire thru these websites.
I'll post more tonight

Did a blakes one years ago, fecking loved it.
Was jumping out at the locks and helping out, it was a real adventure holiday and was better than so called holidays of a lifetime that I've had since...

I did the upper reaches of thames on a Hoseasons boat. Brilliant : Different curry in a different pub each night. Locks were great fun and lots to see. Only problem was getting the waste from the chemical loo pumped out as it filled up too quick LOL

Used to know the owners of "Fencraft" based in Brundall- now no longer in with Hoseasons- and spent many a week on the broads on their boats. Loved waking up in the middle of a different broad every day (that wasn't meant to be a double entendre!).

One bit of good came out of it though: the son (James Hoseason) got enough money to buy a genuine ex-Works Renault 5 Maxi Turbo from a bankrupt collection in France. He has had it restored and was sorting it out last I heard. Watch this and enjoy:

Anyway been on the Broads a couple of times and would highly recommend it though off-season is obviously better if you don't have kids.
If you're only going for 3-4 days then stick to the northern section of the Broads (i.e.) above Great Yarmouth, they are much nicer with lots of bits to explore and many pubs.
Don't forget your fishing gear if you're into it, caught plenty of roach, rudd, perch, bream, etc. when moored up for the evening. Very pleasant

I understand that the Hoseasons family sold out to some yanks a while back and that it's been downhill ever since.
