I've been scammed and shafted, obviously ...... no wonder he spoke with broken English and the conversation went on so long!
Done up like a kipper!
Unless it's an AutoTrader arranged number?

personal numbers make the owner some money(although the rules have changed slightly).
this type of number is typically used by companies that run for sale adverts - basically the number maps onto a mobile number and then you never have to give out your proper number.
Price varies from 8p/min upto 50p/min
You might want to try calling it and checking who it goes to - if it rings, check it's not connected and you're just being played a ringing tone(eawsier to check from mobile). The missed call scam relied upon giving several thousand missed calls to random numbers, people see the number on their phone or answerphone and call back. The call gets connected but it plays a ringing tone - you think it's still ringing but you're actually getting charged and somebody somewhere is making money!!!

gallois got it right .... quite how he/she found it is beyond my abilities .... but I knew SN would be able to locate the number
Yes, it was a seller of an Impreza on AutoTrader who used the Telesafe option ... at 37.5p a minute!!! And I had to pay for the very long call
The seller was very cagey and very unwilling to dosclose much information, I nearly rang off early as he was being so evasive .... but thought that I would give the conversation a chance as he was clearly cautious and foreign!! A nicety which has cost me
Check those Autotrader numbers!! And I would advice you not to use a Telesafe number!

the thing is that number looks like a UK mobile number, so how can you tell if its a telesafe one (or one latched onto another number) ?
