Private medical
Decided after years of messing around I would go and see a specialist. Suffered with my guts and such and always been labelled as IBS.
Anyway .. booked in and went along, very nice hospital.
20 minute wait, after the due time he comes out and is nothing short of rude. Not wanting to listen to me and just barking yes or no questions.
Sends me for blood tests, which they take there and then.
Book appointment for following Tuesday. They call twice to cancel due to him being busy and then when I finally go in I'm waiting two hours whilst hes in surgery ... Now ok fair enough he needs to fix this person that's under the knife but could they not have called me to tell me to come later??
He tells me blood tests are all negative and suggests some meds my doc can prescribe.
How much for this lovely little adventure ?
£548.02 ....
Not impressed with private medical ...

At the end of the day private buys you to the front of the queues, nicer food, pretty hospitals, but still dealt with by human beings, and plain old doctor and medications.
Crap to hear you had quite such a bad time mate. Hope whatever it is gets sorted. IBS I hear can be bloody painful.
Save your money and stick to NHS unless its something like an op or a scan that is ages away.

we had friends who were skiing in Colorado this April
the daughter had a minor fall, that meant an afternoon in the A&E dept of the local hospital - an x-ray and small cast/bandage
the bill came to £2700 - they had insurance, but had to pay upfront - ouch
(and hopefully claim the money back)
so lucky we still have the choice

Hope the GP prescribes the right stuff anyway and that it all clears up.

Unfortunately there are some vile people working for the NHS and Private.
My friends Husband is fighting cancer, and the attitude of one of the Consultants was so bad, his wife tore a strip off him in front of everyone. She asked to change as his attitude upset her and her hubby so much.
Terrible, when the bloke is fighting for his life
Thankfully, they did manage to get another Consultant.
Hope you manage to get sorted, pimmo. IB is not pleasant, from what I have heard.

Takes all sorts I suppose. The bloke I had was as nice as pie and he even took the trouble to walk beside the trolley when I was off to the theatre to make me feel better about it. He was good on jokes too!

My private experience has been pretty good really. I am currently awaiting a splint to be made by the NHS and have waited over 2 weeks, and that's even with the private referral. They just don't do things in a hurry!
If I was still going NHS, then I wouldn't even know what was wrong with my wrist as the A&E clinic doctor I went to see 2 weeks after my injury tried to send me away saying I've not done anything to my wrist. In fact, I've done something quite serious which means I may need an operation.... only apparent by doing an MRI - which the NHS said they wouldn't even do. I know who I'd rather go to, at least my consultant talks to me like a human being!

Never gone private myself. God mother went private for a face lift and contracted MRSA.
As for your symptoms, whats wrong?
I put up with a dodgy stomach for ages. Indegestion after every meal or with no food at all. Acid burps causing pain in throat and general unwellness.
Was put on Lansoprazole for ages - like 3 years! Finally got a GP to refer me for a magic eye (not a comfy experience to be fair) and turns out its a hiatal hernia - where part of the stomach protrudes into the esophagus.
