A lot of morons like the idea, judging by the comments on 5 Live the other day.
It's like the checkout staff in Tescos choosing the store manger. Stupid and dangerous.

Apparently the kids get this mixed up all the time (im not surprised, she's fecking wrong) she seams to think that because the scales can give an output in KG, then they don't measure weight, they measure mass instead.
They are not balance scales, they are cheap and nasty digital jobbies that are effected by gravity.
The discussion actually turned into a proper argument at one point, lol

My missus is a science teacher and she thinks that if we take our bathroom scales to the moon and step on them, they would give the same reading, lmfao.

The *sentiment* behind the Learner Voice (in essence what this is all about) is a good thing.......to a point.
This is one of the brainchildren of the infamous OFSTED inspections..... a wholly unpleasant experience where you are graded on various areas of both yours and your peers/employers abilities to do their job correctly.
FWIW, look at the Ofsted site - your kid's schools will all have reports.
However, before I launch into a tirade about Ofsted and inspections not giving an accurate picture of exactly what is going on, I'll refer back to the original comments
I have to take Learner Voice into account in my Course Team meetings and EVERY other aspect of my day. I'm lucky - my Learner Voice representatives are what we call "Level 3" students (A Level) - they've fought against 200 other applicants to get on my course, and are only there due to their merits. In other words, they're the ones most likely to get employment or success after completing their qualification.
When it comes to them expressing their opinions, they are adult and mature about it - knowing full well that stupid comments will be ignored. However, constructive comments (both +ve & -ve) will be acted upon and quickly. We've ended up with additional resources etc because of this - even bits of kit that I had dismissed, but the case was argued effectively.
A classic example of how Learner Voice can be VERY good.
This article just goes to prove how terrified MANAGEMENT are of offending the wrong people. As a result, IF this article is to be believed, the unsuccessful applicants are the fortunate ones - who in their right mind would want to work for a company where the most inappropriate selection panel was in place (and supported by the "suits").....
What this entire country needs is a serious wake-up call and a recall to reality.
I'm not going to say anything else on this now, but don't worry PS Lewis will be along in minute to slag off all of the Education profession

I said in a previous thread that it was about time that they stopped the ridiculous habit of allowing the children to run their own schools.
Don't think I need much more evidence now!

Article on London news this morning suggesting that school children were going to be given iPhones so that they could give instant feedback on teachers.
I feel the pendulum has swung too far to one side.

Children just don't have enough experience or maturity to be able to dictate how a school should be run.
Also giving them that sort of power means that they will never understand or accept the need for respect of authority.
The sort of behaviour we see these days stems from the leeway given to them by the PC Plonkers!
Teachers should command full respect.
