Rail Strike
1) Does the rail strike include the tube system?
2) Do you think it will be fairly normal service on the evening before the strike starts?

1) No
2) About as normal as it ever is....
I've relented and booked a rail trip to Manchester in May, wouldn't normally entertain the idea as driving is much better even if it is stuck in a traffic jam, but you don't have to park a train and you can have a beer or two while you're on it. The barstewards had better not go on strike then

That's useful - thanks chaps.
I pity the poor sods having to drive into London on the Tuesday rather than take their usual train

I very very much doubt this will happen, if it does then the lines I work on are just closing completely, there are contingency plans in place but for those lines that remain open it is going to be chaos.

i suspect the real reason behind this is workers just plain fed up with bullyboy management . do this do that oh bye the way sorry there is no more dosh in it for you lot as we (the management) are all paying ourselves to much sorry , the company i work for is paying the top bod £585000 a year thats the same as about 18-20 ground troops on shop floor level . no wonder we just had 19redundancies just so he could keep his . no it makes sence rbs 520redundancies so the could keep a few more at the top

The reports on the news are not accurate at all, (there's a surprise), it is claiming that the signal workers (including me) are striking because of the 1500 job cuts for the maintenance workers, we are not. There are are number of other issues that the signallers are aggrieved at, which I believe will be sorted in the final hour as tends to happen every year.
The RMT has simply balloted both side - signalling and maintenance at the same time for maximum impact.
