Default rant about christians!

hi all,

first off this is not a direct dig at religion in any way......

i am a karate instructor and i have recently started to look for a new place to teach. i came across a baptist church hall, the people that run the place have flat out refused to hire the hall to me!

they say that karate is against there code of hire and goes against their beliefs!

when i questioned them they said it wasn't anything to do with it being a contact sport but was more to do the the spiritual side. can anyone christian here explain their thinking??

i would agree with that if we lived in 15th century japan, but we dont!

modern karate is more about learning respect, self control and self defense.

The Dojo-Kun is the oath of the karate ka. Even today, it is recited at the end of each lesson.

That could be your problem.

when my club bows or kneels, its all out of respect for the hall (dojo) and/or each other. how can they interpret that as wrong, alcazar your right their thinking does seem very outdated.

If that kind of sport does not fit in with their thinking it surely is within their rights to refuse you.

I personally don't see what the problem would be either but they will have their own codes to guide them.

its not a whine its a rant/moan, its utter crap that people living in todays times think that teaching karate considered anti christian!.

and by the way he said if it was a boxing club then there wouldn't be a problem!! so i could be a devil worshiping boxing teacher and that would be fine!

I have not heard of the Dojo-Kun before Pete. Do you know the basis of the oath for interest and how it might offend that particular religious sect?
