Default Seeded bread.........what's the point?

Been trying to lose weight, eat healthily etc, and one of the things I've been on is wholewheat bread. I had some nice seeded stuff last week, but tbh, what is the point of the seeds, since most of them seem to pass straight through me?

Well, I like the bread, so I suppose I'll stay with it, just seemed like "waste" of time.

It helps with digestion. As mentioned above whilst passing through your colon it scrapes the sides and helps bring all the material that has been in there a while with it.

Jeff just eat decent wholemeal, sod the seeds... they'll only absorb water and swell up inside you adding to your weight

Seeded bagels.

A. They're low fat
B. They're not 'bread'.
C. Taste great with a bit of wholegrain peanut butter and Marmite.

lol at this!

probably how we got a nation of fat c*nts with the mis-education about nutrition.

seeds on bread like said, add to taste, contain nutrients, and fats, protein ect - in short they are good for you (obv dependant on where they actually come from)

the shells also act like roughage as has been said ealier - which is kindof like indigestable carbohydrates, along with other veg/foods.

they can hep "clean you out " so to speak

but it really comes down to how good your diet is overall

Why's it miss information? Bread is full of carbs and we in the west tend to have a high intake of bread in our diet. As a food it's a relatively poor nutritional source. As we lead a more and more sedate lifestyle due to the nature of office jobs people don't need the carbs they once did when jobs tended to involve manual labour.

The bloke wants to lose weight. If he cut bread out of his diet for 2 weeks I'd be certain he'd lose weight.

lol you didnt say any of that in your origional post mate

carbohydrates are essential for normal/healthy bodyfunction.

your classing all breads as being equal, your classing all bodies as being the same

now what you should have said whats your complete diet - then modify from there

for all you know the guys eating some bread, and the rest of his diet is irn-bru and chippies!

dont start me on the weight loss from dropping carbs in 2 weeks b*ll****. its a temp weight loss from water reduction and how all these fad diets con money from ill educated people.

dont get me wrong carb requiremnets should only equal expendature - anymore will tend to lead to fat gain, and cutting carbs can equal bodyfat loss but only if everything else in place.

I respect your opinion but you are clearly wrong. Anything with Marmite on it can't taste "great". You ought to seek professional, medical help about the Marmite.

I was just making a point with the first post. No more, no less. I didn't say drop all crabs just remove bread from his diet and watch the weight come off. It wouldn't be water reduction at all so it's you talking tripe if you want to go down that route.

I am of course assuming he's looking at his diet as a whole and trying to eat the right things.

pmsl - this is too funny, but your point is nonsense mate - its not true. thats my point.

weight loss comes down to many factors - complete diet/excersise/lifestyle

would you care to tell me what this "weight" that he is going to loose on your 2 week diet plan actually consists of?

sorry to sound a bit of a **** mate - but it is actually water he'd loose form dropping carbs of any kind in a short 2 week period

contrary to common beleifs it takes quite a long time to loose fat and actually to gain it - this can be increased through use of certain foods/drugs but it still takes time and effort.

why would it be water? Explain that to me then. The 2 weeks is just a time-frame to give an example that taking an item of food out of your diet that is carb laden would aid his aim of weight loss. I'm not saying he would achieve his target in that 2 weeks but I believe it would be enough to convince him what sort of changes would be needed in his diet. A bread bun has similar calories in it to a mars bar.

for every gram of carbs you ingest your body will hold onto roughly 4 grams of water.

drop your carbs by even just 200g a day ahey presto

drop them evebn more and youll hold less water.

the kind of carbohydrate you ingest also affects thingsd like insulin secretion - which is an anabolic hormone for fat and muscle cells amognst many other functions.

the bread bun you mention will be heavily processesd white bread - its a simple carb of little use in most diets unless blood sugar is low, or just after resistance training.

the bread, as i understand the op has been eating is wholemeal, with some seeds on/through it. will cause a slower insulin release as it tkaes longer to digest - thus keeping fat cell anabolism to a minimum , and at the same time supply energy for daily functions

there are of course a multidude of other affecting factors, that can infulence what happens - including genetics, hormone production ect ect

ill just add that putting your body in a calorific defecit is the way to loose fat, be that through nutrient restriction , or excersise.

the healthy way is through a balance of both
