Default The final Dr Who

Anyone watch it? what did you think??

I wasnt impressed, i thought it was the weakest of all the episodes penned

over the whole run of shows!

What was the point of Donna Noble in this adventure?, come to think of it

what was the point of anything, other than the last 15 mins when he

revisited his old friends, and even that was a bit of a blooper, why did he

need to see Rose again, he,s already living with her in the alternate

universe.

I hope its not going to end up going the way of the original doctors, with

shakey plots, scenery & cameo roles for "luvvies"

I have to agree but I think the Dr dieing was the sub plot by a mile here(even though he kept going on and on about it), the Master and return of the Time lords was supposed to be more important, if we didnt know it was Dt`s last episode I think we may have looked at it differently, I think because we knew we were all watching for that more then the actual story they were trying to tell,
But your right why see rose as he is already with her, also having him with Rose does leave the door open for him to return in the future,
If those first few seconds of Matt are what he will be playing the Dr like then I cant see him being popular with most.

I enjoyed it, but then again. I love Dr Who

Saying that, I think DT has to be the best Doctor ever and I am really so biased that the new bloke has no chance.
Plus he is plug ugly where as DT was very pleasing on the eye

I thought it was lame - last 15 mins going through the old friends was pointless, found myself thinking "just regenerate already"

We shall see. Don't forget everyone said David Who?? when he replaced Chrisopher Ecclestone. Tennent was a virtual unknown then. Maybe Mr Smith will grow into the part. Personally Ecclestones dark doctor was excellent and I was sorry to see him leave, but David brought the light side to the part. I hope the Matt will not be to silly now that the writing team has jumped ship as well.

By the way the Who on Who program on Radio2 with David and Russell was an excellent hours broadcasting between Xmas and New year. Gives some insight as to where they are taking it with Matt.

I thought it was rather good, a lot darker than previous episodes, which is a good thing. Tim Dalton as Rassilon / Lord President was a good choice. Hammy, but good at the same time. It shows the Time Lords are really rather not at all nice, and seemed to have gone a tiny bit mental in the last days of the Time War. The Master was as oddball as ever, but did become a little tedious, but though he disappeared, I'm sure he'll be back, mental as ever

Why was Donna there? This was to set up who wilfred (Bernie Cribbins) was, for those who had not watched previously, plus it was a plot device from the viewpoint of wilf trying to get the Doctor to say hello to Donna as she hadn't been the same since he left and removed any memories of her traveling with him to prevent her brain from burning. As we saw, she does remember and did aid the doctor by giving wilf Naismith's book which allowed the Doc to work out he was the person he'd seen in his vision from the Ood.

As for him visiting friends, it was as he said his reward, he was helping them out. He gave Donna a winning lottery ticket so her and her new hubby would live happily ever after (well until he divorces her because she's a whining, moaning bint).
He saved Sarah-Jane's kid from being run over.
He prevented some alien from killing Martha.
He cheered Jack up by giving him Alfonso's name. Jack being on a traveling spree after being overwrought with grief at his actions during the conclusion of "Children Of Earth" (Now that IS some rather dark Torchwood/Dr Who stuff)
As for Rose, he told her she'd have a great year, which is either referencing that they will meet again (and if people said, but she should recognize him, umm, no, he didn't look like that when they met) and have a great adventure together, or that his meeting with her changed the timeline enough so they would not meet and thus she'd be spared any pain from their subsequent journey's together.

As for them living together in an parallel universe, well one could argue that it isn't our Doctor there, it's his duplicate, who is slightly different to him, and from what I recall, a little more evil and vicious. He did something "our" Doctor would not have done, but I cannot recall exactly what (probably wiping out the Daleks or sacrificing a planet of people)

I'm not totally convinced about Matt Smith as the new Doctor. CE was fairly good, but I do prefer DT. MS seems to be a little too young, though I'm guessing he's at least mid twenties. He's geeky and quirky enough to be a Doctor, but we'll wait and see if he has the charisma, wit and twinkle in the eyes to live up to it.

I thought it was extremely poor. The plot was diabolical to say the least, and a load of dramatic music doesn't cover up for that in all honesty.

Totally agree Lee, DT is gorgeous.

The new one is just too young for us, I can see why they've chosen him, but there were better options out there.

Why didn't Wilfred turn into one of the Master clones?

Because he was in the isolation booth at the time?

Exactly spot on, and that's why the Doctor got him to go in there in the first place as he knew it'd protect him. Donna didn't change as she's still part Time Lord.

I really enjoyed the episode.

I really can't see the new kid being much kop - especially going by that performance

Personally I thought Ecclestone was a brilliant Doctor Who, and Tennant was just as good.

The new kid is too young to play such a big role I reckon
