Where do you lot download your Videos from?
I have this nice new Sony X Series MP3 player and would like to put some videos onto it .... like You Tube Videos.
THe Player will log onto You Tube and play stuff ..... but, is there anyway I can download them to my player to have whenever I wish?

Realplayer?
I downloaded RealPlayer once about 8 years ago and swore never to again ..... it took over my frigging PC!
Is it any less intrusive these days?
My MP3 is looking for MPEG-4, WMV or AVC ...... others will not work so it says.

My laptop is fairly quick(nothing special) and it doesn't seem to do anything at all to mine, but I do know what you mean... it used to be bad for messages and updates etc popping up!
The only thing is, when you download from youtube with realplayer it'll be in flash video format. You'll then need to convert it to WMV. Will get back to you on that, as I converted videos a while ago but have forgotton what software I used.

Right, got it. I used a program called 'Any Video Converter', which is freeware. Free Video Converter - Any Video Converter Free Version - convert video to any formats, avi to MPEG, avi to MP4, flv to MPG
You can download videos from Youtube directly with that, as you can click a Youtube tab and it gives you a box to paste in the video's url. So that can basically do everything you need to do without the need for RealPlayer, etc.

Thanks for that advice .... why can't these players just accept anything you throw at them? It's actually not impossible to make a player which will play every format available!

Hmm, I wouldn't download it then. Will just download it myself to be doubly sure it's the same program. But yes, I have ESET anti-virus which hasn't let a single infection through in over a year, and it didn't see any problem with AVC. Sometimes it's just the file type that flags up problems, but if you aren't sure don't download it.

Cheers mate, I'm sure it's just because it isn't verified - hasn't a signature - or whatever it is ....... I may do a restore point and try it when I can build up the courage

Yep, just downloaded it again from the same link I posted, as mine was saying there was an update available. It's the same program.
It did warn me the publisher couldn't be identified, but that's common with freeware. I've run all sorts of malware scans using various programs since I've had AVC on my pc, and none have had a problem with it.
Don't blame me if your computer blows up though.

Well, I'm giving that AVC a go ..... pretty effective at converting the videos I have on the PC - it takes a long time to convert a You Tube file though?
It whizzes through collecting the info from You Tube, then takes an age converting it - strange?
Anyway, beggars cannot be choosers .....
