TomTom as a xmas present
The good lady is going to get me a TomTom for xmas. I currently have a RA Navigator which I have had for blooming years and whilst it has served me well, it is really long in the tooth and runs out of battery in a blink of the eye.
So the question for the SN /SatNav massive is:
Which model shall I get ?
Couple of criteria to help you.
It must have obviously UK mapping (not that fussed about europe unless I need to go on the run to Holland )
IQ routes if possible
A decent sized touchscreen
Bluetooth so I can hook it up to my iphone
And most important camera alerts (is this something you have to renew every year ?? )
Cradle included and the ability to either hard wire or attach via ciggy lighter
A good GPS fix on it
Cheers people
Oh and yes, budget. Well that could vary depending on how good I have been this year but budget for around £150

Whatever you get; Just make sure when you update it online you click every single box to download every option available to you.
I did it for my mum's partner's new Tom Tom for him. And I didnt bother to click on all of the updates for the EU maps/speed cameras, just the UK ones, as I was in a hurry to get it up and running and assumed it would allow for rest of the updates to be done later on...nope, its a one shot affair. If you want to update it again, you have to pay. So now he has a Tom Tom with all the EU maps and speed cameras , but only the UK camera database is fully up to date - even though it was brand new
It didn't give any warning of this, just a list of items to update with checkboxes. Bit sly if you ask me

Can't (be arsed to) find the full review, I'm sure you could watch it online, it was one of the first features on the show...

It will certainly get you to the shops more easily, and you will be able to find your house quickly in that long straight road you live on.
