Ignore it, they can't enforce it. My youngest got one last year, we asked on here, were told to ignore it, and did just that.

Oh............apart from I rang the solicitors in Southampton who were TRYING to enforce it, and blasted the person who signed the letter

Ignore it, it's not from a council authority or anything even vaguely legit by the sounds of it. There was a thread about this not so long ago when someone got a letter through about a fine when they parked in a Maccy D's car park. In fact it's here https://www.scoobynet.com/non-scooby...yes-fines.html

You can ignore them if not issued by the council or police

do a search on this, there is info on the martins money tips site as well..

They will chase you and hard, threats of solicitors, court etc. write to the company and send in copies of any receipts you have from your shopping at the services - also copy in the company who own the service station to a quick and painless solution (hopefully)

good luck

I have just had one cancelled by some company that enforce the carpaking at my local hospital

I was having an emergancy operation at the time

but i would never have paid anyway -- they have to sue you through the courts to get any money, completely different from a police/council ticket -- which will state that you have contravened some road traffic act.

So go ahead and pay it:rolleyes;

Why ask for advice if you won't/are too scared to act on it?

Surely the best thing to do is read up on it and decide, there is plenty about these companies and how to fight them on the web

I would give it a miss, I have had a few private comapny tickets in my time and I have never paid one of them. People cant just implement fines when they feel like it, No matter how many signs they get printed up.

Ignore it and every letter they send you, They will never ever take you to court and if they did they would lose.

It is not a fine, it is an invoice and you have not committed an offence.

As everyone says, they can't sue you for it-so ignore it.

Ignore. I park for free every day as I never buy a ticket. I get a ticket (fine) every now & then & don't pay that either! Result is about 4 letters chasing payment for each fine & then nothing! I do have a drawer full of letters though ...

Doesn't apply to Local Authority parking though - ignore them at your peril

Watch out for when they change their signs and add clamping agreements You may find that you are paying for a lot more than a ticket when you get back......clamp + tow + storage + ticket before release...

i think the killer fact is whether the ticket states whether you have contravened a Road Traffic Act -- and has the word "fine" written on it

Ignore it.

If you dont want to - write to them and ask them for the evidence that you were there for over 2 hours. The only evidence there can be is 2 hours CCTV footage which shows your car parked for 2 hours, in the same place - surely ? Ask to see the footage, make it difficult. If they send it ask for it to be varified by the police for authenticity, make it diffcult.
If they took 2 pics of your car that were date stamped then who is to say you were there for 2 hours and didn't leave and come back? And if the only evidence is their word then they must prove that they sat there and watched your car non stop for 2 hours. Its not your job to prove you didn't do it - its theirs to prove you did.

I expect a good % just pay up like goody-goodies while they drop the ones that dig their heels in.
I got off a recent parking ticket. Took a couple of letters back and forth but they dropped it in the end.

I wouldn't write back at all initially. They will send several letters in due course each one dressed up to make it sound more threatening than it really is. After about 3 or 4 of these write back and say you consider their repeated communications to be harrassment (make sure you use the word harrassment) and ask them to cease and desist as you are under no obligation to pay their invoice or even reveal to them the driver of the car on the day in question.
