Sonic'

Nipped out for a smoke last night and up in the sky where what I can only describe as around 15 'lights' in a triangular formation follwed by several overs all of similar size

I have no idea what they were, but I ran in and grabbed the camera but the main batch had already gone over

They were all in some formation and all headed off in the same direction, left to right slowly rising and then speeding up till they disappeared above the clouds

I only managed to get a couple of crap pics but here they are

But a quick google shows something very similar a few years ago

Now im not saying for one minute these were UFO's in the 'alien' sense but they certainly werent fireworks, lanterns etc

I think the orangie lowest one in the second picture is defonately a street light.

Having a google around it seems that they could most likely be chinese lanterns

Seems to happen a lot round the Halewood area too as there are quite a few reports of sightings round Liverpool

Saw something very similar down in Woking some weeks back but put it down to Chinese lanterns, from a local garden party -they too rose in formation all taken by the same wind until they hit higher altitude winds with far greater speed which causes them to accelerate and get lost in the clouds. Incredible sight and about the only down to earth answer I could conclude.

yes these caught me out a few months ago.
ran upstairs and got the bins on it and it was a heartshaped lantern,
might get a couple on bomfire night ratjher than fireworks
