Default Sky TV v Rain!

When it rains my sky boxes have no signal, does this happen to anybody else?

Its caused by the water which interfers with the radio waves, fogs the worst culprit along with snow.
Higher the bandwidth in the radio spectrum, greater the interference

Could be dish alignment as well, only needs to be slightly out.

I run a 60cm dish with a lower threshold LNB and don't loose pictures even in monsoon weather, my neighbour with the 'minidish' and std LNB gets 'blocking' and the 'no signal being received' message even in moderate rain.

Too true. Twice I had Sky out during the first year to re-adjust the dish (43cm version) after I got similar problems to the OP after some windy weather. Third time I went on the roof myself with a signal strength meter and reset the dish (and discovered the complete mounting by Sky was a bodge job). Since then it's not been a problem, bar temporary loss of signal in really crap weather on some channels.
I expect the OPs dish is either poorly sited, badly adjusted or both as I found the signal tailed off rapidly in both horizontal and vertical planes when moving the dish from its 'best' position.

I was expecting issues with our Sky tonight, but actually it has been fine. Strange really, as during all the hot weather we have been having it has been freezing for a couple of minutes per night. Seems out dish likes the rain.

I guess thats an easy fix, if its hot and it freezes I'll just get out the hosepipe

We dont lose the signal, but the picture isnt as good in heavy rain, or if its really cloudy with low clouds.

Cant get cable where we live though, so dont have much choice.
