One of our best holidays ever -in our own county!
Just spent a week down the road in a nice cottage in Porthleven (yep - same county! Needed grandparent babysitting help!). Not only did I score the notorious reef working (surf) but had loads of great riding. Some on my own, some with my lovely wife.
Bike was brilliant and loved every minute of it.
Got a tri on Saturday and due to a dodgy hip, I'm not really "allowed" to run so I can only really cycle until the event (done loads of running training up until recently though).
Few photo highlights but all camera phone so sorry about the quality!
Empty beach and a great run up a dry stream bed on the other side:
Not a bad track to ride on!
Me looking cheesy and daft:
It might seem silly driving 40 mins down the road but we could only get a week off, needed babysitting help and it saved us a day each way in travel time. Plus the place was fantastic, we had great surf and fine weather. We also saved a few hundred quid on flights. Think we'll do the same again soon. Reckon it would suit some of you too.
The house - superbly equipped 4 bed gaff on the water's edge:
With this view:
Sun, son, St Emillion and sea - perfect!
Hope you've all had a good week!

To be honest he was a bit tired after we gave him a load of that wine....
Not really!
He has far more hair than me already.
Git.
And he's bound to be taller too...

Dave - we did that track too but this was a coastal route from 'Leven to Mullion Cove. Checked the OS map and most of it was fine to ride on. Some sections were a bit borderline (not many) so did my completely OTT polite smile every time I saw a walker!
Had Leven at head high and clean - wicked break but stupidly shallow and rocky! A sort of surfing "black run!"
